payment in advance?
I need to book somewhere for new year and January. I assume the hotel/guest house will require a deposit. Can anyone tell me how this is done - do I give them my bank details, and if so are they trustworthy?

If you book any hotel through a website, you will probably have to pay a 10% deposit. This can be done with a credit/debit card. Look for the small yellow padlock near the bottom of the monitor and this will ensure the site is secure for you to give your card details. I have done this on many occasions and have not had a problem. You will be required to pay the balance either around 10days before you get there or possibly at the end of your stay. Many BMs book this way and yes,it is trustworthy.

A credit card guarantee will do. If you don't show up they'll charge your card.

Patong Pearl Resotel
I've often put in a good word for the Patong Pearl Resotel and it's worth repeating it on this newbies forum. Very nice hotel, totally guest friendly, they really don't care how many guests you bring home at night although they do ask them for ID, for your safety. Not too expensive, just a few minutes walk from all the action yet nice and quiet during the day if you want to relax by the pool. Very good value car hire place right next door on one side, fantastic bakery that does delicious home made sandwiches on the other side. Thoroughly recommended!

Avoid the Sukothai. They have a long track record for mistreating BGs and the guys who bring them. Try shifting your BG at 6:30 AM. And yes, they will definitely only allow one girl to come in to a double room. Bring another next night and its NO GO! I HATE THE PLACE!!!

My first post...
Hi fellows,
Let me thank you for this great forum, I have been reading some of the old posts and well trying to follow the resent ones too. I was in Phuket december 2002 and went there with one ex-girlfriend, therefor I didn't do a thing and played very cool and nobel... which was as you can understand extremly frustrating. Anyhow I was planning to remedy this and pay Patong a second visit and this time do so solo and without attachment since I'm now single again I have checking the list of guest friendly hotels but I would like to ask you guys if you have any experience from this following hotels...
Duanggjitt Resort
Grand tropicana
Thara Patong Resort
Banthai Beach Resort
Patong Bayshore
In Dec 2002 we stayed at Duangjitt Resort and it's a great hotel, friendly staff and great pools. I also saw with my own eyes guests bringing in "dates" and I also noticed the guard at the entrance gate asked for ID... But I don't have any idea if they charge extra or if they allow "multiple dates" I mean bringing in an other lady the next day... Do you know about these hotels rules regarding joiners and price? The thing is that there are some travel agencies here that arrange package trips and at great rates if you ask me and it includes transfers and guides, etc etc. Nevertheless I would much rather have a few beers with you guys and learn from the specialists
I'm gonna take this trip by next year so I'm way ahead gathering intel here coz I've already booked a trip to the Canary islands for this summer and one to Brazil at the end of the year. I was there (Brazil) 6 months ago and feel that I gotta go there again coz (same old same old) I went there with my resent ex-girl and I have to remedy this and enjoy my self there as well especially since I won't be having much problems making my self understood and most importantly this time without attachments .
Thanks in advance and once again, you have a great forum here, thumbs up

I always stay at Duangjitt with my Thai wife. I know for a fact that the Duangjitt Hotel ownership does not like their male customers bringing back different lasses every night. But my wife suggested to me the hotel does allow guests to bring back dates, although as you pointed out, the security at Duangjitt will ensure one goes to the front desk and registers her. I believe there is an extra charge, although my Thai wife suggested if the individual has a double room, there would be no extra charge. Of course this begs the question, what if it is a different lass one brings back every night? When I pointed out to my wife the difference between a room for two, and a room for one is very small (something like 100 baht), and that I thought a Duangjitt guest charge would be much much larger, my wife then shrugged and said she didn't know.
Good luck, but my suspicion and speculation (and its no more than speculation) is the "guest" fee could be 500 baht or even more at Duangjitt.

Thanks for the help
Thanks for the info Void Personally I think it's kinda wrong to pay joiner fees, if I pay for the whole room (double occumpacy) which I'll have to do if I take this trip package offert, then it's up to me to use the room and have a guest if I want to and not pay extra for something that I already payed for I'm sure Duangjitt charges extra and I remember seeing in one of the pools, the one nearest our room, a sign which said that "outside visitors" have to pay a fee of 200B if they wish to use the pool... Then I guess it would be 500 for the room as you suggest and that money I would much rather spend it by treating the girl with a nice dinner or a night out dancing and/or just give that extra 500 to her as tip... I'm certain she'll appreeciate it and besides most probably she'll deserv that money a whole lot more than the hotel... Thanks again for the info.
I would like to ask one other thing and this is a quick question I guess... If I get stuck with one lady for say two weeks... And the bar fine is 500B, then do I have to pay 7000B in bar fine?? That would be 500 x 14...

I heard Duangjit was not guest friendly. Check Salathai, close to the beach and GF.
Does Patong Pearl Resortel still exists? TAfter the Tsunami they started a big project in Soi Sawatdirak.
500 barfine is for gogogirls (Rock Hard 600). I was told of the situation in the Rock Hard. They have a agreement" per 14 days with the bar. If they aren't barfined and they don't work they get the money subtracted from their salary. If you have a steady you can make an agreement before you arrive in Phuket that she takes 2 weeks or a month off from working. She then gets no salary (and also not a part of the BF you normally pay). That's why some continue "working" (they have to register when start or stop working) when they have a steady customer: they also get a part of the BF (or of the 7000 Baht you calculated). By the way, they start 8 PM and get 5 Baht fine per minute they are late.
Barfine in beerbars is less than 500.

I had no idea...
Thanks for the intel Captain... I had no idea about the agreements the places (bars and agogo clubs) makes with the ladies... And I don't mind at all paying 7000B or what the barfine for 2 weeks may land at, as I have been reading a BG's fine is about 300B and yes I got that the BF of a gogo girl is about 500-700B and I sort of calculated something in between since it's better to bring too much rather than too little in this case thou I'm more interesting in a BG rather than a gogogirl. I assume this barfine has to be paid at about daily basis since it would be a bit silly to pay it all in advance specially if things wouldn't work out between the lady and me, say after a week... I would much rather meet a new lady everyday however it may be the case that the first girl I meet will perhaps not want to leave and I know for certain I won't have the heart to ask her to go... That much I know...
Ok, as for hotels... Hmmm it seems like all the hotels this dang travel agancy offers are anti-bar ladies... I mean not guest friendly and thank you for the hotel pointer thou I read in Peter's page about Lamai Inn which is a very nice hotel and rooms, with extremly low and nice rates, near bangla road and most importantly 100% girl friendly... Couldn't be better and the only thing I see as a minus is that I'll have to make the booking my self and also arrange the flight my self but if anything it'll be alot cheaper I think. One great thing also about this hotel (Lamai Inn) is that the safety box is down at the reception/lobby coz if I bring guests I think it won't be much of a point to rent a safety box that is located in the room and can be opened with a key... Probably nothing will happen but still, I think I'll sleep alot better...
I have also read in this forum that the ladies have a certain amount of drinks or some sort of quota they have to furfill... Do you guys know roughly how many drinks/beers she needs to pull in from a customer? Coz I figured if it's about 10 then I can have a few my self and by her some too and if anything i can always ring the bell and everybody will be happy I think
Thanks again for all the help and useful infos, this forum is so ever great, you guys are like living oracles or something... Take care.

Barfines in beer bars are 200bht which you will have to pay to the bar otherwise you could go to the disco and pick up a freelancer and not pay any BF.
If you take a girl for one or two weeks you will still have to pay unless like Captain said she quits work but you don't want that.
Any hotels named in page 1 of this thread are guest friendly, stay away from the big name resorts some of them can charge up to 1000 bht joiner fee.
You can still get your agent to book your flight or you may be able to get a better deal online then just book your hotel online.

Hehehe well a barfine of 200B is very little money... And not even worth mentioning in my opinion. And well I wouldn't go to a disco to pick up a girl in order to avoid the barfine that would be insane I think since the entrance fee alone plus a drink or so would cost me more than 200Bht 55555 at least when I was there and I went to Banana club with my girlfriend it costed about 200 to just get in... However it would be interesting to do it that way and try to skilfuly pick up a lady... However that I could do here I guess and as far as I read in some previous posts it's a good idea to avoid freelancers since the risk is way less with bargirls...
And as for the girl qiuting her job or taking a vacation, I would much rather pay the barfine wether is 200 Bht a day or more... It's also more than OK by me a price of 1500 or 2000 a night for the girl, I wouldn't even bother to bargain down the price.
As for the hotels, actually the only one in that list that the travel agency could make me a deal for is Thara Patong and as I read it's necessary to get a mail confirmation and as I also understand there are some restrictions as well, such as during high season the lady has to be out of there early morning, etc etc which I would rather avoid coz I think we'll all feel alot more at ease if every body feels welcome. Besides the Lamai Inn looks like quite a nice hotel too. I wouldn't mind staying there... I think...
As for the joiner fees... Hmmm I think that's abit unfair and as I said previously, I would much rather invest that money in treating the girl with a gift, a nice dinner, a night out or simply give it to her as tip rather than give it to a hotel since I'll be paying for something I've already paid for...
However fellows, if anyone of you gurus knows the drink-quota of the bargirls or just about, please share the figure with me. I do have a nice thought in mind behind that particular question Thanks for the attention.

Stayed at T TERRACE guesthouse in April which is just behind the Lamai Inn - 207/42-44 Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road. Booked on internet at 700bt per night (Tterrace@hotmail.com), they took no deposit or card details but confirmed booking and re-confirmed the day before I left UK, sent taxi to pick me up from airport at 500bt direct (no jewellery stops on way), I paid for 7 nights on arrival and checked out after 5 days to go to Khon Kean, they refunded two day over payment without me asking. Confirmed No guest charges by email and each night they made my guest very welcome, maids never came to room whilst I was in there, always waited until we left. Met the owner in Bangkok airport on way back from KK and she offered me discount if I wanted to come back, I couldn't cos stayed with thai friends in Thalang, so offered me discount when I come back in August. Negs - no pool and no view from room just looked at massage parlour at rear, pos - as already stated and room okay standard not as good as Amari or Marriot but equal to say C&N, 5 mins walk to Bangla or Sea, tsunami safe, internet facilities. They did take TG id card but I think that is for our safety and the one time I brought same TG back for second night they made her feel really special. Good option for location, friendly staff, budget cost, keeps a few extra squid in your sky for other expenses.

Great! The price seems nice and the service as well... Do they have the safety box in the room or at the reception/lobby? Do they have a site so that I can see some pics of the place? Yeeeiiiiiih! I may be able to be there in December hehehe...

By the way, safetyboxes in the room are not with a key but a number combination lock. It is a lot handier than a box at the reception.
