hi everyone-
this is my first post...does anyone have any inforamtion on the beer bars in karon beach? thanks...

You can't miss them. There's some on the main street and then where there is one on the corner, there is a row of them next to it on the side street. The girls are very friendly, cute, and not so aggressive as in Patong. All in all, it is a pleasant, low key way to spend an evening if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of Patong.

2 area's
Karon consists mostly of 2 area's:
1 on the north end of karon beach inland from the roundabout 2 on the southside of karon beach (about 500m from the southend) and inland where you can see the Happy Bar sign there are some bars, one soi up north (other side of restaurant hungry corner) about 10 bars, up the road there are some more bars and also on the outside road (farangbar, cartoons etc) Mostly more quitte, with some decent girls.

when you are coming into karon you hit the circle. the 1st road off the circle is the main road. there a bars all along that road. not too lively but nice. when you get up the ron the left there is a cluster of bars where you will find the most girls. there are some cute ones, but not like patong and they have competing stereos so it can get loud. there is a pretty good bar with a pool table and will play whatever type of music you like on the right called new friends bar that i like to go to and have a few beers late afternoon. i may no longer be welcomed there since i hooked up with the 2 hottest girls there and kinda convinced them to go work in patong, so maybe im not welcomed there anymore. also, as gson, my friend recomended, little mermaid, on that same road, makes the best cheeseburger on phuket. i love karon and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask me

I totally agree, spent 1 night at the roundabout area and 1 at the area near the orchid hotel and you wil have a good overview. Take a 3rd night for Kata and you are all done

1.You should have no problem with girls being chinese just treat them with respect and pay the money.
2.No problem getting tuk tuk from karon to patong and back at any time of night ask price before starting journey. 3.There is a bar on the main street in karon(not sure of name)where you can get sopy massage price about 1500 bath . 4.Email hotel you are staying at to give you a price for being collected by taxi at airport as there are stories of people being ripped off by taxies.

Getting around from Karon
I am heading back to Karon in two month's time for my 4th visit. I love the place. I stay in a small guest house in the same soi as the Islandia Resort. That is up the main road heading inland from the circle for about 150 metres and then left into Soi Islandia. The guest house is above and part of the same establishment that I dive with. The owner is now very much a personal friend.
A taxi from the airport costs us 500 or 600 baht. A taxi or tuk-tuk from Karon Beach to Patong costs about 250 or 300 baht. When we get a taxi we like, we get his mobile number and use him to take us to Patong and fetch us back in the evenings. It costs about the same as a tuk-tuk but is air-conditioned and much more comfortable. It's reassuring to know who's picking you up and you get looked after as a "regular". I have done the same with a good tuk-tuk driver too. I don't think being Chinese will make any difference to the girls' attitudes. The only comment I could make is that in BKK the girls pay special attention to the Japanese guys because those guys tend to be big spenders. This trip, I will have my son and two of his mates with me so I will be making more visits than normal to Patong. MTB here we come! Both my sons have been with me before and we are quite accustomed to going out and getting pissed together both here and in Thailand. You can see a photo of the three of us having dinner with our bg's in the photo gallery. Last trip, I noticed that some of the girls from my regular bar like to head over to Patong around 2am to go to the disco but I declined to join them. My tirak wanted to go with them but wouldn't go without me. I drink mostly at Sunee's Bonsai Bar which is in the corner at the back in the group of bars that Marc26 mentioned. Sunee always has a good selection of girls and on each trip so far, I have had a girl from there for the duration of my stay in Phuket. Mind you, that doesn't preclude a little afternoon delight from elsewhere and it doesn't get in the way of the nights in BKK on the way in and out of Thailand.
