how not to get robbed
Hi guys,
I am a newbie coming to Patong I am looking forward to my first ever trip to thailand in late july and was wondering how you guys stop from getting robbed over night with a lady in the room? Is this a big problem? Also I am thinking of staying at the holiday inn (Busakorn wing) but am unsure of their policy regarding female company. I have sent them an email but no reply so far, can anyone suggest a similar well equiped hotel that is guest friendly prefer something classy with a spa in the room if possible.. I believe the going rate for a lady overnight is anywhere from 1500-2500 baht and was wondering if this included unlimited (within reason) sexual liasons or simply a couple of hrs then company for the rest of the time? How much should I pay for a short time and how long would that be? I guess I am just worried about going to sleep and waking up robbed blind I realise I am naive and hope someone can give me some pointers so I dont end up getting egg on my face.

Its rarely a problem but you should always take care anyway..
In room safes and not leaving temptation out is obvious.. Also by taking a girl from a bar where she works (paying barfine) instead of a freelancer you have a recourse and know how and where to find her again.. Rates are about 1000 - 2500 and thats usually one or two sessons and perhaps a breakfast one.. Dont push it and just let it flow.. some girls are keen to go non stop others want to get out with only one round... If you get a non performer just chalk it to experience and know for next time, making a big deal about getting your moneys worth is a mistake IMHO.. Also bear in mind you pay when they leave so there is incentive for performance.. Relax.. Take it easy.. you will find it all works out fine..

http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6567 (thanks to river its a great thread) Always get girl to leave id card at front desk. myself i have never been robbed also if taking girls from bars its pretty safe as you know where they work.(keep money etc locked away just in case) LT is until next day and girls are usally very friendly most dont want to leave until 3pm or later or at all and sometimes have to let them know its time to leave.on "prices its up to you" some talk 1000baht and some BM wont pay more. That will do for me maybe some other BM will answer also

You don't want to stay to upscale with the accomodation they usually frown on overnight guests Holiday Inn has a definate no guest policy.
Look at the mid to low range places if you want guest friendly there is a list in this section. Longtime refers to allnight and shortime refers to about 2-3 hrs rates vary depending on girls. If you are worried about security you should always keep your passport and money etc in a safety deposit box or in room safe. If you take a girl from a bar or gogo remember which bar it was then if anything happens ( hardly ever does in this situation) go see the bar manager/owner and tell him your problem. This hotel is a little bit more upmarket and guestfriendly overlooking Patong from the hill you will need a motorbike to get around or taxi. http://www.hilltophotel.com/ I also recommend this place get a deluxe room pool side great restaurant as well not far from the action. http://r24.org/phuket-info.com/phuket/salathai/

Thanks to all who have replied so far, I already had the Salathai on my short list, the salathai suite looks very nice.
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Also would the guest friendly hotels feel just as friendly with two overnight guests or do they just look the other way so to speak with one guest?

You might want to consider booking a room for only the first couple of nights. Then you can go around, check out places, see which appeals to you the most, and also bargain on the room rate. When you walk into a hotel with no bags(and no taxi driver), you would be surprised at how reasonable they sometimes get. Especially if you tell them you plan to stay a week or two.
As for getting ripped off. It is quite rare, but can happen. Not something to be paranoid about, since most of the girls are honest as the day is long when it comes to keeping their hands off of your belongings. Just the same, best to keep money in the safe, and other items of value locked in your suitcase. When the girl is taking a shower, you can always toss your camera, your Rolex(as if), your blackberry, and your big wad of cash in your suitcase, leaving enough in your pocket for breakfast and her payday in the morning. Put the suitcase in the closet. Those are reasonable precautions. Of course, you are always safest with a girl from a beer bar or gogo bar, and that is where you'll want to start the first few nights. But, once you are feeling comfortable with the scene, you are probably going to end up, at least, sometimes, picking up a FL in the discos, as there are a lot of hotties there, and there will be nights when you see one you can't resist. Ask her what bar she works in, as many do work in the bars before heading to the disco. Some do not work in bars, however. Take the precautions mentioned above, and you will be OK. Also, good to have her turn in her ID at the desk. If you hook up with one you really like, after the first couple nights, you can loosen up a bit. If you are inexperienced, best not to pick up a girl on the street. Never pick up a LB on the street. Never pick up a girl on the street in BKK, unless you are experienced and she is standing in front of NEP or across the street in the parking lot. One other thing. If a girl ever asks for payment in advance, be polite, and ask her to leave. It is just not done that way, so if she does that it means that she is up to no good, IMHO. As far as sex, if they are not that into you, and don't particularly care whether they get a second "date," then you'll get one go-round when you get back from the bar, and in the morning, they will be a little cool, shower, and dress and get out of there ASAP. Also, if they are not getting good vibes from you and figure that you are a butterfly and that you won't be giving them a second date, they might try to scoot without an AM roll in the hay. If they are into you and vice versa, you will get laid when you get back to the hotel, laid if you wake up horny a few hours later, and laid again before you go out for breakfast or lunch. Once at night and once in the AM means that they would like it if you came and saw them again that night, even if they are not totally into you or vice versa. That's kind of the "I'm OK, you're OK level." Of course, not everyone wants laid more than once a night, anyhow, and that's OK, too. Whatever floats you boat!  JayBee

Secure the things you really aren't going to need (including excess cash) in the safe or the lobby safe deposit box before going out for the evening. But I do agree, it's not a big problem.

Im 6 foot tall and if the room has a suspended ceiling with the pop in tiles I stand on a chair stick all my valuables in there as far as my arm will reach.
No chance of a 5 foot Thai getting at it without a ladder!. I only bother with this when I don't trust the hotel safe .. i.e .. a new hotel I've never been to before. Heard of other guys taking a small screwdriver with them and unscrewing the back of air cons and popping it all in there! Or even stuffing half into curtain seams and the other half in the pillows so the little darling is sleeping on it all night without knowing! ... I wouldn't trust that one though .. the little minx could probably smell it!

Bloody Heck!! I hope the BG's don't read this thread. Not many places left we haven't told them to look apart from digging up the pot plants in the hotel garden and stashing your money there.....................DOH
 there goes another one!!!!!!My last hotel safe wasn't even bolted to the wall  You could just pick it up and take with. In fact, that's what I am going to do on my next trip! Just carry my stuff around in the hotel safe. Sit at the bar of the MTB at 2 in the morning with the safe on the bar, scratching my head and trying to remember the combination to get in it.I'm just imagining stashing my money in the aircon, coming back with a couple of girls, switching it on and showering the room in 1000 baht notes. That should be a fun night!

I can remember (vaguely!) a night in BKK many moons ago, when I thought "Sod the expense" I want to regail young lads in the pub in England about the time I took 3 girls back to my room and made long, lustful, lingering love to them for ohhhh! Minutes. A tale told over a pint of bitter and when I am in my 70's etc.......................so I bloody did! I've not got eyes in the back of my head
 and while my attention was distracted somehow!! I was robbed blind  Bloody good experience though!
