any other forum for BKK?
Hey guys, I know have been posting a lot and asking tons of questions. I guess after 2 straight years going to bangkok, I am still a newbie when it comes to booking and planning the trip. Last time I went with my friends, so it was not that big of a deal. We stayed practically anywhere. But this year I planned on taking my girlfriend and wanted to book something nice. I knew I should've paid more attention when I was there!!! To my surroundings that is. But hopefully you guys can help me. Not just in Phuket, but all over LOS. My destinations are Koh Samaui, Phuket (OF COURSE), Phi Phi Island, BKK. For now, I just want to know where I can ask questions for hotels in BKK? and also Koh Samaui. Any suggestions? Or anywhere you guys can point ? Thanks again!!!
Love this forum!

There is a section here on Bangkok and mentions quite a few hotels.
Try www.bangkoktonight.com/forum for lots of Bangkok hotel info
Also try the search button for any details on hotels you already know of.

Where should I be situated in Koh Samaui? Any popular spots? Like Phuket has Patong. What spot does Koh Samaui have?

Samui has Chaweng as the main spot but personally I like Lamai.. Also Samui has a more diverse and spread out expat scene with Gecko and others in Bo Phut / Big Bhudda like Mint bar etc..
Definately a place to explore and not hurry (if your in a hurry then Chaweng / green mango + reggae pub is instant action).. One thing I like about Samui is its spread out hidden from the mainstream places.. I can spend 3 or 4 weeks on Samui and still regret leaving.. Sometimes it makes me consider Phuket very seriously..

For Samui See Lamai Beach
i am a regular in samui and my personell experience and that of my mates who go with me is that 1) chaewng beach is the biggest resort with a few go go bars but is mostly centred around the large semi open disco bar called the green mango club when we have gone there we always leave around 1am as there is a very young crowd in chaewang who turn up at the discos around this time intent on having a fight with anyone who is interested.
we always stay at lamai beach which was the original resort on the island the nightlife there is much more relaxed with about 4 different areas of beer bars with loads of good looking girls there are a few discos there as well the accomadation there tends to be slightly cheeper as well try the samui beach resort hotel 1185 per night

Sorry but thats just rubbish!!! I stayed in cheweng and was in green mango everynight and didnt see one fight, And yes there was a lot of young people(Majority) around, Including myself but in no way where any of the people we met aggresive or threatening to anyone whatsoever, Thats just blatant discrimanation against young people, Its just a bullshit statement IMHO..
PS: Maybe you are the type of person who attracts trouble? Did you ever think of that?????

That was my experience
I can only tell you that i have been in pattaya 18 times and never witnessed any agro i personally have never been involved in any sort of agro anywhere for at least 25 years but on the 2 occasions i was in the green mango the first night there was a full scale fight involving at least 8 guys and on the second 3 nights later there was a heated argument we left before it became a fight maybe i was just unlucky my friend but i can assure you it was not bullshit it was my personal experience of the place and again i reiterate i prefer lamai beach been there 3 times never seen any trouble not bullshit but 100% fact

This is the part I am refering too, You said that you have to leave at 1am because there is a "Very Young Crowd" who turn up and cause trouble, And intent on having a fight with anyone?
Come on thats not true, Maybe it happened to you but some people attract it as I said, I think your generalizing here and thats what I dont agree with.

Dont know Ali.. I have also seen very drunk tourists also kicking off around the entrance area / Burger King part outside Green Mango..
Its pretty rare to see fights in Patong but I saw some hassle around Samui and have spent FAR FAR less time there..
Possibly just luck / timing..

I didnt see any at all, In saying that I didnt see any trouble at all when I was in Bkk, Pattaya, Samui, Phangan or Patong really so maybe thats my luck, Actually the only fight I seen was between BGs in tiger one night but that was it.
Its the point about the very young crowd I was refering too, Its not only young people who start trouble, There is people of all ages who cant hold there piss and start trouble for no reason all over the world, That was my point.

In order of increasing magnitude:
Sober > Merry > Drunk > Pissed > Wasted > Unconscious > Dead > Automatic Entitlement to Irish Passport
Still, at least you can now drink AND breathe in Ireland - the first bastion of civilization in Europe
