Diving in November

Hi everyone.First post!I'm travelling to Phuket in mid November and thought I would introduce myself here so I might have a drink or two with some familiar faces when I arrive. It would be great to do a tour of the bars with some BM's(with only one trip to Pattaya under my belt this newbie is still very open to advice.)

I'll be checking out some local dive sites and probably an overnighter to the Similans and was wondering if,generally speaking,I should expect rough seas in mid November, early December. Also, any other BM's possibly up for a dive in November?

Oh and btw, ever since my trip last November to Bangkok/Pattaya I have been completely obsessed with Thai girls,Thai culture,Thai Everything!! I spend a lot of time dreaming about LOS,planning my next trip, and surfing this forum.I think some of my friends are tired of listening to me talk about LOS(but they're too polite to say so.lol)So I keep talking!

Thanks to Nicke and everyone for giving me another outlet to vent my passion.I'm sure my friends are grateful too! Matt

Welcome to the board!

Diving in November should pose no problems at all. The rough seas tend to come with the southwest monsoon and that has died away by then.

Thanks Coolhand.I've tried to book my holiday after the rains but before the xmas crowds, Nov 12 to Dec 4. I was hoping for cooler weather for day excursions and,of course, more bargirls for me Nice to hear the water wont be overly choppy,I might even try some fishing.

cheers

hello and welcome.
I was diving the last three years always in october/november. Usually no problem with waves. But like everywere one or the other day it can get rough. My tip: If you donīt like it just tell the dive operater that you reserve the right for yourself not to go when you find out waves are too heavy. Usually you see it when you arrive at the port.

Thanks for the tip Diver69.I'm hoping to dive Hin Daeng and Hin Muang on a speedboat day trip so I guess I'd be wise to choose my day carefully!
Have you found the crowds at the dive sites to be not too bad in November? Also, any personal favorite dive operators?

J019 I hadn't considered Samui for diving(until now!) as much as a couple of day retreat for myself and a special Thai girl.I've bookmarked that website. Thanks for that!
I hope you'll post some dive reports once you start making the rounds.Just dont let it interfere with your pursuit of TG's.

Cheers Matt

looks good on samui and that dive school sounds respectable, will be doing my advanced open water course there i think, if ur not out there till november ill try n post up what the place was like when ive checked it out!

and as for letting it interfere with my pursuit of TG'S - not a chance i'll have everything nicely balanced ..

I am planning a live aboard to the Similans myself at the second half of october. But recently i saw a thread in the news section telling that the Thai government is closing down the area for diving between half may until half november. I have emaild some shops in Phuket asking if they can confirm this but so far none have answered. I still wanna know because my whole trip was planned around it. Maybe anyone on this board can say something about it ?

I would recommend Sea Bees Diving in Chalong. A very good crew, good organised and propably one of the best operaters in asia. The Excalibur 2 is one of the modernst and luxurious diving boats I ever have experienced.

J 019 I'll look forward to your report.Yes balance is important although it's alright to tip the scales sometimes with a PAIR of TG's!

Diver69 I'm pleased with your suggestion since Sea Bees was at the top of my list. Thanks!

wakeboycam It's my understanding that Similan National Park is closed until November 12.Perhaps there is some way to dive there before then.(this is Thailand)If you haven't emailed Sea Bees yet it might be worth a try.

Just got a mail back and they say its officially closed untill 31 october. But they will stat 2 weeks before that. Sounds pretty good what they are offering so i might go with them. Although i find it more comfortable to go with a company located in Patong itself.

No Problem. They pick you up at the hotel and bring you back.
