Incoming Newbie

Hi,
Just a quick introduction, I'm a newbie to this forum but not to Patong. I usually visit a couple of times a year. I will be back again in about 7 weeks and will pop into Mai Tai for a couple of beers, and maybe put some faces to names. A lot of good stuff in the forum, but , there seems to be a couple of "people" trying to stir things up.

If I post in wrong thread, or ask questions that have already been asked, feel free to chew me out. I'm old enough and ugly enough to take it, I promise I won't cry in my beer , as a Scotsman that would be a waste.

See you in September,
faultytowers

hello Basil?

Hi Faulty and welcome to the board. I've been trying to guess why you use the name Faultytowers. You say you are in London, so running a hotel in Torquay is not the answer. Is it one of the following:

1) You are tall, skinny with a moustache and can do a funny walk?
2) You are short with a moustache and speak English badly with a foreign accent (Scottish you say?.....)
3) You look like Prunella Scales

Whatever the reason welcome and feel free to tell us more about your recent trip. How come you are going back so soon - I'm jealous.

Hi Gez,
No Basil, Sybil or Manuel, just a habit of having a "few" beers in Faultytowers Bar in Soi Sunset, one of my mates owns it. I worked overseas for years and got used to Hols every 3-4 months. now I'm back in UcK I've found I still need a break every 4 months.

Silly me - the TV program was spelt Fawlty Towers. Sorry for my ignorance (we are in the newbies section), but what is a hash pub in Patong. Not the same as some of the cake bars in Amsterdam?

Hash House Harriers - A Drinking Club with a Running problem.

Thanks to all for your welcome, hope to have a few drinks with at least some of you next trip. About the job, I work in a hospital, sometimes for 24 hours without a break, would gladly swap. Now you know why I need a break every 3 - 4 months.

About 6 weeks and counting

Hash House is a British tradition for self/brotherly humiliation and thus comradeship......they say they run like greyhounds , but really just stagger around like scooby doo looking for a pile of flour as a clue where to stagger to next

HHH is like joining the local branch of the Expat 'masons' ..... but there is no skill in drinking home brew from a sweaty sock or wearing a toilet seat round yer neck and being the 'hash shit'

Also for Gods sake NEVER wear NEW trainers as a newbie

Nice try, but I promised myself not to bite for at least my first month on the forum. By the way, I'm sure other BM's will have no problems about having a drink from a "sweaty sock" , if a Scotsman offers to pay grab it quick as his wallet has a time lock.
