If the red flag is on and I can't go swimming on Karon beach, I will definitely need to do something since my girls and I are only gonna be there for the weekend.

Are there any boats that will take you to islands around Phuket with nice beaches if the red flag is on?

Yeah...and I really just need to know what to do if the red flag is on.

you can try paradise beach , just keep riding o the end o patong beah past the amari up and around the hill, through the jungle and you come to a secluded cove.
Should be ok , has resteraunt ect and well sheltered.
Check with the guys in the resteraunt beore you do the jungle bit tho, or just go or the scramble, its un

As its not I would suggest to take the girls prawn fishing on soi nanai 2 and then bowling, up to loch palm way and go karting or clay pigeon shooting, bungee jumping or if swimming stick to the pool, I would never mess this time of year with potential rip tides far too dangerous, just read IJ's post.

take a day excursion to the islands in Pang nga bay. I've been swimming at Ko Hong a few weeks ago. There are a lot of small beaches on those islands.

OK Maggie avoid the speed boats, unless yhou and your daughters have cast iron stomachs and don't mind watching other punters throw up!
Loads to do in Phuket when the surf is up, so don't worry, you won't be bored and if your into water there are some very good pools in the hotels.

I don't know prices as this was done with a friends speedboat. But I met many chartered speedboats and longtais on the trip. Go to a travel agency in Phuket and ask what day excursions they have.
