Hi Adam, welcome to the board.

If you have any questions for your hotel, the best thing to do is e-mail them and be up front 'please advise of your overnight room guest policy'. When they get back to you you might make a fuss (if they say there is a fee for instance) and get them to waive it. If that happens, print the e-mail and take it with you.

If you start arguing about joiner fees once you are checked in then you are far more likely to lose the argument.

As for you and your B\F (boyfriend?) escaping the guard, well, maybe you would like to re-phrase the question? I'm not clear who is chasing who and why, so can't help mate, sorry!

joinerfee at Patong resort

you have to pay 300 bath/day for joinerfee only if you have standard room, is better you get a better room, is in low season at 1300 bath w breakfast for two, and you are not charged, this is what I do in june 05,

Thanks for both of your quick reply, I am really appreciate that.

Well, actually I am talking about the hotel is Patong Beach Hotel, not Patong Beach Resort, I thought these are two different hotel and I am sure I mixed them up yesterday.

The problem is I could not find any e-mail address regarding this hotel, anybody could help on this?

The last thing is I am a male, what I am writing the word "BG" is refer to "Bar Girl" instead of "boyfriend".

As I bought the package from Thai airline, I thought it is less possiblity to upgrade right now, the only choice is to upgrade room once I am on board Phuket.

Thai will have booked you as a single, probably in the cheapest room.
That is why I book my hotels personally and book a double. First times I came to Thailand I used Thai also. They have the best rates, including airport transport and day/half day trip. Problem was the joiner fees.

If the joiner fee is really 300BHT, I thought I could only accepted as I just only stay for 3 night, totally within 1000BHT. Just anybody could confirm the joiner fee figure?

Is this a record for a joiner fee?

Got to be close? It looks like a flash hotel, not my sort of place at all. I think one or two of the other '5 star' places do this but you could be right Gez. Anyone improve on a 3000baht joiner fee?

Hi Adam,

Perhaps you should ''downgrade'' to another hotel where there is no joiner fee or at least only a small one. Are Thai flexible with the hotels as part of the deal? Could I ask how much the package cost and from where you are flying?

Actually the Thai Royal Ochid Program hotels are whole these kind of resorts. And the program is not refunded at all. Totally package is around 4XXUSD.

The fortunate thing is I will stay in Bangkok for 2 nights and I booked Majestic Grand Hotel which should be a guest friendly one and get 2 nights stay with the cutie TG.

Thanks!

Hi, I stayed at the Patong Beach hotel about 7 years ago and the "joiner Fee" then was only 500Baht. They are defintely getting VERY greedy. there are plenty of other, much cheaper places to stay in Patong.
Check out: www.phuketdir.com you will find lists of guesthouses and hotels on there. Most of which I am sure will not charge a "joiner fee"

Steve

2 years ago, I had booked a package with a travel agency in Belgium, so single room in a nice hotel in Kamala (Kamala Bay Terrace unfortunately closed after tsunami).
I asked them by email before my trip if there was a joiner fee, they said yes 1000 bath. I asked the tour operator if I could bring someone to my room, they said no way.

Well, during 2 weeks and half, I brought my BG to the room without using any of the hotel conveniences and never had problem. But I had not to pass in front of the reception desk to go to my room. Of course, sometimes, I saw the staff looking at us a bit strangly, but never a question except one night from a guard who asked my BG who she was and if she was a customer of the hotel... she just answered "why do you ask it? Don't you see I'm his GF?" and it was ok

Adam,

Stay at the hotel you booked and find a guest house for 5-600B a night and use it when you need to. This is perhaps a cheaper option than trying to change hotels at this stage.

Devman,

You are right and this may the only possible choice I had right now. Dam Thai Package!!!

I am thinking another way is to hide away from those security guys. Will try to see the location whether it is possible once I arrive.

Hi Adam,

I stayed there three years ago and the joiner fee was 1500 baht. Security wasn't easy to by-pass.

Cheers, BLUEPAULLY.

Because some people arent necessarily aware before they book, or perhaps they really like the hotel and arent worried about the extra costs involved.
