We are going to Phuket on Sunday for the first time & staying at The Islandia Park resort Karon .
Can I get some advise?
Has any one stayed here & wht's it like?
Is there Bemo type drivers on Phuket?
How much do you pay for a driver for the day?
The good day spas in that area & how much should we pay?
Any good restaurants in the area we are staying that you can recommend & approx costs?
Where is the best place to change money?
Can you buy desent wine in the restaurants?
Any advise will help

Islandia-never been but looks nice
restaurants-right across the street from your hotel is little mermaid, good casual food. best cheeseburger ive had in thailand(thanks gson)
for good food, go to Two Chefs, its in Kata on the way to Kata Noi
driver-walk around near your hotel and you can negotiate a driver, guy with his own car. for say 5 hours 500-700, and hell complain but will do it
new friends bar is across the street from your hotel. good laid back bar. you can play pool, listen to any cd you like. nice thai owner

I came back from Karon Beach a few weeks ago so we went towards Southern end of Karon. (Thanadol Rd?)Actually Im a bit confused as to where Karon ends and Kata begins so apologies if Im talking twaddle! Down the southern bit ie down the hill towards Kata try the Coffee House? Its an Aussie Steak place. Wine excellent. Also Full Moon is OK across the road and has a gorgeous waitress called Keow! Theres a fancy place up loads of stairs on the left opposite easy rider we found it expensive and small portions but ok for couples on honeymoon or a romantic night out if thats your thing.....doubt it!. To be honest we never had a bad experience anywhere we went. The chemist on Thanadol Rd was fantastic, I had a stomach upset one day but she ended up selling me viagra along with immodium also my mate Martin had an ear problem from diving he too ended up with viagra! She was very funny and we ended up going in most nights on our way to the tuk tuk (right outside.) just for a chat and to buy condoms from her amazing range! As far as money goes ATMs everywhere and money exchanges too. Certainly one outside Karon Beach Hotel.

I believe the name of the restaurant is COFFEE POT.....and the chef is Tony...real nice guy and great food...huge portions.

I remember seeing a really nice looking Spa near the shooting gallery. I think once you get to your hotel you will probably find a brochure for it. Your driver or the hotel staff should be able to tell you what it is called.
