Great name for a yacht!
PHUKET: Three foreign men and a Thai woman were arrested yesterday on charges of attempting to smuggle 40 kilograms of heroin out of Thailand in a yacht.
Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) Deputy Commissioner Pol Maj Gen Suwat Chanitthikul said that two men from Hong Kong, whom he named as Barry Chung Oi Fung, 42, and Leung Pak Long, 20, were arrested at a hotel in Karon.
The general told the Gazette that the NSB had received a tip-off from the Hong Kong Police that the two men had brought the heroin, worth 50 million baht, from Bangkok to Phuket.
He said, “We arrested them when they brought two heavy suitcases out [of the hotel], and put them into their car.
“After questioning them, we were convinced that more people were involved.”
The police then went to the Yacht Haven Marina and arrested Briton Ian James Newton, 49, and his Thai wife Sangwan Newton, 38, the owners of the 15-meter yacht Short Time.
Gen Suwat said that no evidence of crime had been found during a search of the yacht, but police still believe the couple were involved in the smuggling attempt.
All four were taken to Bangkok and are currently undergoing interrogation at the NSB headquarters.

In the maritime tradition of giving boats womens names I once saw a fishishing boat in Alaska called 'Miss Conception' which I thought was great..

Was thinking very hard last night about a name for my Yacht! Not that I would want one as I only do big boats! What do you reckon to 'BOB!" as in it floats around on the water.
Never heard that about not giving a racing boat a female name AD!! or is that just in Oz! I dunno?

The only one I know is the name shouldn't contain 13 letters.
There is a school of thought that says the name of the boat reflects its charecter, such that "Money Pit" will be expensive to run, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I share a boat with my brother. It's called 'Suntrap' but I think 'Hateful Bastard' would be more appropriate, or maybe 'Bottomless Pit'

A police force led by Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) Deputy Commissioner Police Major General Suwat Chanittikul on Friday afternoon raided a British registered yacht from London named ’Short Time’, moored at Yacht Haven marina in northern Thalang district of Phuket. The officers detained Ian James Newton also known as Graeme Mitchell, who held two passports of Britain and New Zealand, aged 49, and his Thai wife Sangwan Newton for investigation. The arrest took place after police arrested Cheng Oi Fun Barry, aged 42, and Leung Pak Lun, aged 21, from Hong Kong while carrying 40 kilograms of heroin in Karon on the south end of the island. Both confessed to police that they had brought the drugs from Bangkok and prepared to take them overseas. The investigation then led police to raid the yacht with the two accused and their 3 million baht yacht was seized. The Police Major General believes that the gang is related to major drug dealers who use Thailand as a transporting route to other countries. This arrest took place after Thai police worked with U.S. Hong Kong and New Zealand police.

In the USA, and, I think, Britain they auction off assets seized in drugs raids. I know some septics who bought a 60 ft motor cruiser for US$10.
I wonder what happens in Thailand. Anyone want to buy a boat?

There was a racing yacht (single handed trans-Atlantic) in the seventies called "Vendredi Treize" or "Friday 13th".

It was topclass, I think 3 masts, but to big to sail for a man singlehanded. Some famous French skippers used it, concurents of Eric Tabarly. I think Alain Colas, not sure. They even went bigger with the Club Med, also for single handed racing, but the yacht was over 50 meters...
One of them was bought by Bernard Tapie (at that time owner of Adidas and football club Marseille) and renamed Phocea (the ancient Greeck name of Marseille).

As a sign of respect to Nelson(One) and all French and Spanish ships I would name my Yacht 'HMS Victory' I'd crew it with Ladyboys to do the rigging thing as girls are just weak! It would have a swimming pool so you wouldn't have to get wet by jumping into the sea!
Captain Kwan and the LB's would keep everything on an even keel, ship-shape and tickety-boo! (Not sure if that last one is quite Nautical!) Sundowners would be served by half naked BG's wearing sailor hats at, well.....Sun down!
We would have some sails for show but.......have two Rolls Royce twin-turbine Gas propelled rocket props turning the screws just to show the prats on the Seadoo's a thing or two!
I get to hold the steering wheel, nobody else, my yacht! That's the rools OK?
