Thailand won the prestigious Norwegian 'Grand Travel Award' for 'the world's best tourist country' for a third time.
Thailand was awarded the Travel News of Norway's Grand Travel Award for 'World's Best Tourist Country' by the Norwegian travel trade for the third consecutive year this year 2006. According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand's information, the annual award presentation ceremony was organised by Travel News — an independent Norwegian travel trade magazine. Winners in each of the travel-related categories were selected by a travel trade jury comprising 300 members of the Norwegian travel industry. The Kingdom of Thailand led with a score of 5.04 from a total score of 6, while Greece was ranked second and Italy in third place. The Grand Travel Award was being hosted for the eleventh time in 2006.
