Phuket Drivers Are Best In The World

PHUKET DRIVERS ARE BEST IN THE WORLD ( SAYS LOCAL DRUNK )

A well known local drunk has announced that drivers in Phuket are among the best in the world. Khun Orrawan explained his theory to the Patong Times, "Only in Phuket can you see five peoples on a motorbike with two cases of Chang and a dog. In farang countries they can barely balance two people on a bike. Also no matter how much people here drink our driving does not get any worse, if anything it gets better and it hurts much less when you crash." Brushing away criticism that traffic lights should be used as an indication of when to stop and go Khun Orrawan went on to comment, "There is no point trying to control drivers in Phuket, when someone has a gift they should use it to the full of their ability. If we are gifted at driving then no red light should stop us."

That pretty well sums it all up.

He left one thing out, why look to see if it safe to turn or enter the traffic flow, as if you cant see it, it cant hurt you.

I have posted it before, but the most I saw on one of those sidecar things, was 11 people. Even the misses was shocked.

well at least you would never know it hurt you as you became a speed bump on the highway of life.

They drive crazy everywhere. I remember my first trip to Fiji 19 years ago. Had to do a 2 and 1/2 hour transfer on winding roads from Nadi to Pacific Harbor on the main island of Viti Levu. The bus is going uphill with 20 of us in it and decides to pass some slightly slower traffic. A pickup truck comes around the corner ahead of us coming our way going downhill. Our driver kept passing the slower traffic and never pulled over and forced the pickup truck coming towards us off of the road. I asked the driver about it and he just said the bus was much bigger.

In the Philippines the trikes always are forced over to the side of the road, no matter which way they are heading. And on un improved dirt roads, they just drive around potholes and ruts and don't worry whether theay are on the wrong side of the road on blind corners.

You know that when even other Thais think drivers in Phuket are bad that they have got to be world class.
