burmese workers in Phuket situation?
Can anyone give me an update on the situation of burmese workers in Shops, Restaurants, and basically all jobs. I heard from a couple of burmese friends in Phuket that the Thai Government put a stop to the burmese working in Phuket. What is going on? Is this true? Thanks.

Well they were not supposed to be here without the employer paying special taxes on them and them paying income tax.. 90% of burmese are illegal immigrants..
If you mean the Thai gov are stopping illegal workers as best they can then yes this has become more of an issue as Phuket gets 'richer' compared to the rest of Thailand..
