Thailand News - Phuket Bypass Opens

Sounds like a fun place to be driving today...not!

"As of Friday 31 March Phuket's Bypass Road is finally open to traffic. The project is six months behind schedule but local residents can now fully access both lanes of the bypass road. Confused drivers have been spotted driving on the wrong side of the road, apparently unaware of the opening of the second lane despite large signs indicating they should drive in the other lane

. Work on the bypass, however, is still taking place including the moving of rocks, laying of tarmac and planting of shrubbery."

You should see where they have left places for the traffic to cross over into side streets or do U turns.

It will feature in the next few months driving fatalities no doubt.

Yeah always a great idea to have the fast lane on a motorway or dual carrigeway the lane where someone can come to a complete stop !!

Sure fire carnage will result.

and always good fun pulling out into the fast lane on the other side too! seen a couple of near misses recently

I've nearly run over a couple of people coming down from the airport as well, they seem to like playing chicken on the main road...I can just about handle running over a cat or dog but not people
