Helicopter Tours from Patong
This sounds like a good idea, I would like to see the Island from the air, I would imagine that you can get some great photos, but I bet it won't be cheap.
Maybe Nicke could charter it for MTB for the afternoon and we can all buy tickets or he could sell lottery tickets and the lucky winner gets a tour of the island with a couple of girls in the back and a case fo beer.

I already checked one operator, it would cost about 30,000 baht for a 20-30 min tour around the west coast of Phuket. I am sure it would be a lovely tour and great photo opportunities.
I dont remember how many people they can carry but if some people want to split the cost I may be interested.

Lottery
Nicke
You should put a link on the site with a paypal account and then ask people to buy a ticket; once you reach the number that break even you draw the ticket and those people win a ride in the copter and free beer.
They save their ticket until they visit, then you contiune the draw until enough people have won, then when people want to claim their prize, you tie it in with the seat available and their tour dates.
It would take some time to get off the ground but once it gets rolling it could work- Nickes Saturday lottery with a prize with a sexy babe in swimwear as your host and free beer for the ride.
Put me down for a seat either way.
Regards
Drew
PS We could hover over Lam Sing and have a look at the topless Italian babes or find a nice quiet spot to stop off for a BBQ with the babes......oh it goes on and on.......we could hijack it and fly to Vietnam and film the sequel to Magnum PI, I could grow a Mustache and buy a ferrari and we just need a a Vietnam Vet to fly the copter as TC.
I will phone Warner Brothers tomorrow and see if they want to get involved, meanwhile you get cracking.

If its HeliThai, I believe they fly a Eurostar A350. It can seat 4 in the back and one in the front beside the pilot. In my work we often charter a similar aircraft. (There's nothing as cool as flying over the British Columbia coastal mountains in a helicopter!) The seat beside the pilot of course is best. We've only ever had 3 in the back. I can't imagine 4- it would be really cramped - don't know if you'd see much! We pay about $1100/hr here. 30K baht for 30 minutes sounds outrageous but WTF- go for it.
 TG's?...Resistance is futile...

Phuket Heli-Adventures
Hi Folks,
I am Capt Bob Pagett, fellow board member and the person named in the news article from the phuket gazette.
Good to see so much positive feed back with regard to Phuket Heli-Tours etc, its been a plan of mine for sometime to Have a 5 star world class Helicopter Operation in Phuket and believe now is the time to get in the Air.
As a fellow board member i am more than happy to provide some sort of substantial discount, to fellow board members and would hope you will all come down and experience the thrill of Phuket from the Air.
We are planning to commence operations in November for the start of the season but will also depend on Aircraft availability and Investors providing the funds.
The aircraft I propose to Operate is the New Bell B407 Turbine Helicopter with 6 passenger seats seated in comfort + Pilot. on board camera systems with capture the momment of digital DVD.
And the aircraft are able to be configured at short notice for medivac transfers if required, Pop out floats are fitted for all overwater flights and the aircraft will also be fited with Cargo hook for aerial crane operations also.
We intend to provide a wide range of services and believe we are well placed and experienced in providing a world class 5 star service.
Hope to see you all.
Kind Regards
Capt Bob

Hi Chopperman,
I would really like to do a coastal tour around Phuket Island. How long do you think this would take and Have you a rough price guide as to what the cost will be for the whole chopper per half hour?
And will you be up and running by late October early November? as this is when my next trip is.

Chopperman,
Keep us informed of developments on here please. I travel frequently on choppers due to my line of work and agree it would be an excellent way to view the island.
Are you looking at using the airport or another site (hopefully) for take off / landing ??

Phuket Heli-Adventures
Thanks for the comments guys
honeyseeker:
The approx cost to Charter our aircraft on a sole charter basis would cost you around $1000.00 Aud or around 30,000 Bht.
This might sound expensive, but remember just about all our flights are sold on a per seat basis and sole charter eliminates me from selling the other 5 seats!
I would suggest that a group of board members or other pax would share the flight and keep the cost down. Helicopters are an expensive piece of equipment to Operate and so thats why they are expensive to Hire etc.
JockLOS:
We intend to provide a Airport transfer service operating to and from Phuket Airport.
We do intend to Operate our business from around the Patong area with (1) Aircraft dedicated to Airport transfers and Island Transfers with the other Aircraft used to provide a variety of scenic flights.
It is not my intention to have our Heliport located at Phuket Airport! we intend to be were the action is
I expect also that our aircraft will be used for a Variety of roles including!
1) Aerial crane - A/C can lift 1000kg on the external cargo hook.
2) EMS - emergency medical service
3) Aerial filming - both motion and Still
4) Property inspections
The B407 is an excellent machine to both fly and operate and provides excellent views from all seats with large panoramic windows with large comfortable seating. Obviously the Pilot has the best seat in the house.
I would like to see us as the business grows provide a Helicopter Flight School and at that time a R22 training Helicopter will be secured. What a great location to learn to fly a Helicopter!
This business proposal has taken many years to secure the support of Thai goverment including the Govenor of Phuket and the Mayor, and has attracted a lot of media attention, I believe Phuket Heli-Adventures will compliment the many tours available in Phuket but will also Operate on a FLY Neigbourly basis, that is a low noise foot print.
Cheers for now
Capt Bob

Thanks for gettin back Chopperman. I think that is a reasonable price for what you are offering and compares favourably to other chopper rides I have done for less scenic and for shorter time periods.
I am travelling with my brother and 2 friends in Late October and I will run this past them. I certainly dont need convincing as I am sold on the idea so I hope they will too. If not then I would be more than happy to share with any other BM's that are interested in late October.
I will PM you closer to the time Chopperman. Many thanks.

My cousin who did a heli tour thing in Hawaii wanted to do this here in Patong a few years back.. I felt red tape would be a huge issue and also felt that the spending power of a tourist to Patong is not the same as a Hawaii visitor..
I actually think 30k between 5 people makes it pretty reasonable.

Phuket Heli-Adventures
DREW:
Sounding somewhat negative?
We already have investors on board but need further investment to make this a reality!
This is a major project and we are in for the long haul!!
Oh and Helicopters don't use runways...sorry to be pedantic..
for those that have posted positive responses, i thank you..
Cheers

I used to be big into Choppers and stuff when i was younger, those three look pretty cool!
Is pic 1 a Dauphain? I haven't a clue what the other 2 are, but when i was a nipper i would have known! The bottom one looks a bit like the "lynx" but i know its not!
I still haven't made it up in one... And chopperman is talking about November, so i might have to wait till my second trip to LOS. Unless chopperman could sort something out in Sept?
