Talking Ranong crossing re opened

Just read in the gazette that both crossing points at Ranong are now back to normal.Turn around trips are back on.

They also reminded everyone that the crossing fee to Burma is now 10 USD (used to be only 5)

Trust the Burmese to try to make a swift buck (or 5) out of it.

The price rise actually was around before the coup..

I heard of it last month maybe longer but definately before the border closure anyway.

No Gollum - this increase was announced way before the coup.

I can remember doing one trip many years ago and it was 5 USD back then.I suppose they have their administration costs to cover too.
