The Nation: Belt fails, bags pile up
A total of 6,772 pieces of luggage destined for more than 20 international and domestic flights failed to get on board at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday due to a malfunctioning conveyor-belt system.

Does the Airport pay back the airlines regarding compo that they pay passengers when this happens? Just a question if anyone can answer.

Nope, its all covered by insurance. Baggage handling systems are notorious for failing, the new one here has done well so far.
