Tsunami warning tower testing start Saturday April 7

We have learnt today that "starting from Saturday April 7 onwards until further notice, at approx. 9am each day, Tsunami warning tower tests will be held in Krabi, Phuket, Phang Nga, Ranong, Trang, and Satun provinces. The tsunami warning towers MAY make audible sounds but NOT messages. Local residents & tourists are asked to remain calm during the tests."

The genius of these decisions never stop amazing me. It is very thailogical to time this with the final peak of high season. Get lots of people down here to chill over Songkran then give them a good scare first thing in the morning. Don't wait for another two weeks when the beaches empty out. The most brilliant twist is there is no extra cost for this amazing thailand experience.

All change !!!!!!

Seems for once common sense has prevailed , this is from the Phuket Gazette.

Quote:
Testing of the National Disaster Warning Center (NDWC) tsunami warning system, scheduled for this morning, was canceled by the agency out of fear that it could create a public panic in areas where the public had not been adequately informed.
