Governor calls for parental punishments

I think this is a great idea. Often the parents are enabling the kids by giving them motorbikes.

Quote:
PHUKET: Phuket Governor Niran Kalayanamit has called for stricter punishments to be enforced on the parents of unruly teenagers who consistently break the law, after a spate of robberies by a gang of youths.

...

“We need to look at imposing a law that punishes parents who continually refuse to take good care of their children,” he added.

Perfect example. Need to put the parents ass in the sling.

I wonder why boys are so highly valued in thai-culture compared to girls? Who brings the money in?

Don't ever shout at your son, but pimp your daughter out: No problem.
Girls also seem to get a lot of responsibility from young age - taking care of younger family members etc. while the boys are out on their motorbikes..

Yeah, what i was trying to say was; they must be financially better off with daughters.
So why this boy worshiping? If it is that way then. Just my impression of it.

It seems that it IS that way MT.

I have pondered upon the same questions you've raised, myself.

The "boys" seem to be coddled and spoiled, from birth. While the "girls", have enormous pressures and responsibilities thrust upon them, at a very early age.

Cool Under age motorcyclists

Far too many times on this island I see young boys who are obviously way too young riding around on a motorbike.Ifthey cause an accident the other party is left in the lurch as they are too young.

I agree with the governor that the parents should be punished for letting this happen.

I would like the police to take a more agressive stance. Why don't they stop the kid and impound the bike. The parent has to collect the kid and pay a big fine to get the bike back.

Funny how a Falang can be involved in an accident with somebody under age (so no licence, no insurance, etc) with no helmet, driving on the wrong side of the road mau, 3 or more on the bike and its all the Falang's fault. Can't work out the police logic in these cases- maybe the governor should have a talk with the MIB as well. (yeah right!). Sometimes I see someone eying me up when driving as a possible soft target and hang back to avoid a potential 'accident' setup'. If the kids are involved in an accident using papa's motorbike he should be culpable as well. Make him find 100k Baht for a change instead of some innocent Falang mark.

driving upcountry in the town the local high school had just finished for the day, it was a signal for the male students to start the unofficial wheel stand exhibition, girls watching the boys cutting lose on the bikes, i slowed down virtually to a stop when this exhibition started.

the wife asked me why i slowed down so much, i replied about the dangerous behaviour on the bikes and the threat it posed to others (also my wallet if one of them ran into our truck), her response "they are thai boys they are experts on motor cycle".

I know someone that was involved in an accident. There were 3 people on the bike. That is illegal. But they were still responsible for all medical bills. Just pray you don't hit one of those sidecar family outings.

Similar to Chinese thinking. They continue the family name.

Around 3 months ago, my GF's brother (age 28) wound up in trouble, while working "factory", in BKK.

It seems that he was arrested (along with some of his pals), on gambling and drug possession charges. All were placed in jail, by the MIB.

He called my lady (in the wee hours) at her home in Isaan. She said that he was crying (literally), and asked her for 10,000thb for bail. After giving him a good tongue lashing, she told him she would give him 5,000thb..., ONLY this one time! He could find the rest elsewhere! And, to NEVER, NEVER, call her again in such a circumstance!

The brothers "boss" (from the factory), came up with the additional 5,000thb. And, upon his release from jail, the "boss" told him that he was no longer employed at the factory.

He came back to Isaan, where even his mother told him, he was not welcome in the home. Last straw, he went to his wife's family home (with 1 year old baby, of course). I guess they now understood where all his paychecks were spent!

But, they (of course) still took him in. Last I heard, he was helping her family..."on the farm"!

Fvcking degenerate loser's...most of them!

I don't think that they are "all" degenerate losers. Just most of them. 5555

In defense of Lee's family (a huge one...10 brothers and sisters), she does have 3 other brothers, whom I quite like. These 3, are responsible, sober, full time workers...who seem to provide for their wives and children satisfactorily.

But, I'm like you....I don't get it?

Cute kids, then they turn into "zero's".

In certain percentages though, the same can be said of any kids, anywhere. 5555
