Why does the victim's version of events sound SO much more plausible than the cop's?

Because it's the truth?

Tell you what though, the Nation are not pulling any punches:

Like the Kanchanaburi case, the killing in the idyllic tourist village of Pai has the semblance of another police "loss of face" execution.

I see he is already out on bail and it will probably be something that he walks away from though; shame.

Though I'm not ready to fully believe either version (the girl claims the cop punched her for no reason - out of the blue), the fact that the police admit the cop ran away after the shooting (in this article) indicates to me that he was certainly in the wrong.

When have you ever heard of a cop running away after gunning down a perp?

Of course, odds are that nothing will happen to the cop beyond a slap on the wrist and maybe a transfer.

Pretty much the same facts The Calgary Sun - Calgary man called hero

Who knows?
Guy goes to break up a drunken fight between a man and a woman and find they both turn on him - plausible...seen it lots of times.
Bullet passed through males mouth and into his shoulder - ummm that could be consistent with the gun going off in a struggle (or he was trying to duck), I'm not CSI.
Three shots fired when the gun went off "by accident", two shots into the male one into the female, you have to reapply pressure to the trigger with any pistol I've ever fired - you can see where the Nation are coming from.
Just scary how quickly it can all be taken from you. Tragic.

I would assume he was the one who got her to the hospital. The articles don't say...

Here's the latest from the Nation:

Safe passage to Canada sought for Thai witness of Pai killing

Sounds like the Thai boyfriend is a good sort. Hope the Canadian government acts in time.

Really.. The Thai fella is in true danger if he testifies against the copper and remains in Thailand.. I can see that being a fair refugee status / safety issue in that..
