Dame Edna was born in Wagga Wagga and started her career in Moonee Ponds, a suburb of Melbourne. There's a Dame Edna Place in Melbourne ( wondered why K2 was headed there). Sir Les Patterson claims to come from Sydney.

Sir Les was Australia's Cultural Attaché to the Court of St James, so if he was from Sydney, then Sydney must be the center of Oz culture.

I'd have to agree with the gist of the article, there's something about the sh1tty cold weather in Melbourne that just makes you want to stay indoors and cuddle up!

I'd say Kurri Kurri (aboriginal for place of many curries.....repeating is like saying mak mak in Thai) in NSW's Hunter Valley would definitely get my vote.....that's one HOT town!
Bogabrai is another beauty.....

Loony London
Thank feck I dont live in London anymore ....
Quote:
The Mayor of London confirmed today that drivers of 4x4s and high emissions vehicles will be hit by a £25 charge every time they enter central London.
The new congestion charges will be introduced in October with more than 30,000 cars driven every day in London, including high-powered sports and some saloons, joining four-wheel drives in the top bracket of charging.
All vehicles emitting more than 225 grams of CO2 per kilometre (g/k), as well as those registered before March 2001, which have engines larger than 3,000cc, will be forced to pay £25 to enter central London between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday.

1,600 Bt to go into London with a gas guzzler and then 300 Bt++/hour to park - FFS!!
Hope Melbourne is a bit more reasonable.

$13aud early bird rates (in by 8.30) to park at st francis (melbourne central) all day..
There are no taxes or fees to drive into the CBD, but the idea has been kicked around by both political parties and possably the city of melbourne,
from what I have been told by most of my mates who have lived and worked all over the world, melbourne is the easiest place to live, but then again they could be bias!

No congestion tax yet, but, Melbourne has it's challenges:
- fcuking cold in winter just like London
- fcuking hot in summer (worse than Patong in April)
- no beaches to speak of
and my favourite
- doing a right hand turn at traffic lights when trams are around
Order the RTGs now and put them on as you leave the plane ...

Im in the building trade.. Im a builder (houses) and i got a rendering business ( aka solid outdoor plastering) with my younger brother that keeps me goin... I have also started a little importing business with a friend of mine. We've only been going for about 8 months, it's called butterfly hot and cold... I import those individually packed refresher towels that you get when you are in a bar in LOS.....
So take a pick mate!!!! i'll trade them all in to go live in LOS with a little income to keep me comfortable.....
If you got anything in mind that can help me in LOS dont be shy to PM me...
Cheerz mate and good luck with your move...
