Plain sailing for Phuket property and marina sector
PHUKET, May 15, (TNA) – For months, the tourist resort island of Phuket has been struggling to recover from the December tsunami, but now the island’s economy is looking up, with new developments in the property and marina sectors.
The latest of these is the Phuket Marina Residence, whose president Mr. Kawinwit Boonudomsap today described the huge growth potential for the property and marina sectors in the island province.
Not only is the government heavily promoting Phuket as a yachting and marina centre, but marina-based residences are finding popularity among wealthy foreign buyers.
The eastern side of the island is said to be particularly suitable for marina development, particularly around the area of Koh Sire, an island which effectively shelters the Phuket coastline. During the December tsunami, the Koh Sire area sustained only minimal damage.
The Bt400 million Phuket Marina Residence is based on eight rai of land in Muang district. With 154 condominium rooms, the development also contains facilities including a beachside swimming pool, a fitness room and a business centre. The marina includes mooring facilities for 68 boats. (TNA)
