International students experienced the Vegetarian Festival
The last day of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival was yesterday and last night saw a big crowd of participants. To end the festival the Farewell ceremony for the Nine Emporer Gods of all shrines performed in a procession along roads to end at Sapan Hin, in Phuket City.
Meanwhile a local international school used the Phuket Vegetarian Festival as a cultural learning source. Yesterday over 30 students and teachers from Rawai Ruengwit or Progressive school owned by the Montessori Learning Centre, visited Bang Niew Shrine for their educational tour. Most students are foreign or non-natives of Phuket and found the festival very interesting, as their teacher Kim Kilgore explained: “.....for being able to come today, some came yesterday as well Upper elementary; for the Lower Elementary they were very interested at a different level. They want to eat some food & learn about the festival, so they like it very much. Thank you very much for having us come.”
Amber, student: “Good & happy because I go to the temple on the last day of the festival.”
