Cool Guess timate

I guess that there are at least 200 bars in the Bangla Road and its side streets alone.

Add Sois Sea Pearl,Sunset Plaza,OTOP centre,Soi Katsup,Beach Road and Soi Irish, all Ratutit Road and Soi Naimyen for more.

This would definitely be a long term project and pub crawl to have a beer in everyone.

I'd be willing to do the research - landing in LOS on April 6 and planning to stay at least 6 months. Sounds like a worthwhile project for my "days off"...

I can assure you that if I still owned bars there, they would definitely be LB free zones. One afternoon had about 7 of them turn up at Playschool wanting to dance, they got shown the door very quickly.

You must be counting all of the sois off bangla as well there Sharkey..........and the Bangla "nightlife area" including all the sois that run off it and the surrounding streets probably has close to about one third of all of the bars in Patong by my estimation anyway..........so IJ's 600 guess i think is probably the best estimate so far on this thread............what is yours????

So know i am not sure anymore. but as i was thinking about let me say about 30 in bangla and then again maybe 50-60 in the side sois like soi eric etc. sp i thought about 100 at all. When i was walking the stret above bangla rd, where christin is i havent realized a lot bars. so to be honest i havent been much around didnt really expected that much....

250 as a very rough guess for Bangla and surrounds..

50 ish on Bangla itself 40 Tiger, 30 Soi Eric, 30 Seadragon, 30 Croc, 30 Gonzo, 20 Soi easy.. Then on the 'wrong side' of Bangla there must be 30 ish bars collectively in those sois that are more bar than resturant + bar.. Places like the Dogs Bollox and Queen Mary etc.. Could easy be another 50 up or 20 down on that guess..

Soi Sansabai.. 20 - 30 bars in that ??

Soi Sukhumvit, the Sois down by Immigration on Beach Rd, The remaining ones around Soi Seapearl frontage, Soi Sunset at the end of the beach the one or two along beach Rd +- another 100 ??

Nanai and Sai Nam Yen.. I reckon this would surprise.. over 100 active bars and doing more trade than people suspect IMHO.. I tend to see Nanai as the growth area of Patong...

Then you have the cabana bars at OTOP and at the Gym zone at Rat U Thit / Sai Nam yen traffic lights.. Theres probably 20 or so in those 2 spots..

I think 600 is a little bit on the high side but its close.. Certainly over 450

Thing is gets confusing if you have Hotel + resturant + bar.. A lot of these mixed spots are on the Sansabai space and the Rat U Thit areas down around Cristines.. Just cause you can buy a beer is it a bar ?? To me Hotel bars would not be counted as a 'bar' as much but they still serve..

Would be interesting to have a rough count up..

Anyone know whats happening with the developement of the bar beers in the car park at the back of SeaDragon. I know the great Thai restaurant, well cook out really, that used to be there has been kicked out already.

Or whats happening to the car park that backs onto Soi Croc.. Didnt I hear that was going to be bars also..

With the development pace making Soi Sukhumvit reach all down to Seadragon and bars in Seadragon car park that will kind of make more of a whole 'block' zone rather than just a Bangla zone.. Might rejouvinate the Seadragon end a little..

Of course if that does become one huge bar zone they are really going to have to get more drinking tourists here and get bums on seats.. Cant see the newer infux of couples and families keeping that huge amount of beer bars going..

Probably won't be long now before that long dirt road behind the hospital off Sai Nam Yen gets tarmaced and built along. Room there for 100s more bars; 7/11s; beauty salons
