going it alone
As I said in another thread I will be in LOS next trip for 19days. This time I most likely will be travelling solo. My first trip was with 2 bud's who were not wholeheartedly into the party scene,, little nervous I guess.
Is one treated differently by bg's when solo? Any suggestions about travelling solo, do-don'ts etc. BTW I am searching for as much info as I can find on the forum.

Just go to MTB and meet BM's there and then you can decide if you want to go out on your own after that or go with other BM's from MTB as they go to other bars, discos, go go's, etc. You will have fun either way. If you go to Love Bar, Taipan or Baya you will probably bump into some BM's there.
Went out on my own 6 out of 15 nights on last trip and had no problem meeting ladies in discos or in beer bars. I think Safari is more fun to go up to with a friend or 2 but went there solo once and had a great time.

no problems at all going solo. like IJ said you can do whatever you want and no need to look after others... just pop into mtb and you'll meet a lot of other BM's and a lot of them are there on their own...
enjoy your trip

Good question Amigo! I will be in the same boat myself, not till aug though... I have done a fair bit of solo wandering (hitching in eastern Europe, Balkans etc...) before but not in Aisa so its new deal altogether for myself. I found its usually a lot more exciting on your own, but same as everything else it has its downsides i.e. unnecessary paranoia in certain situations. But all in all the times i was away on my own were gennerally the most memorable and rewarding. My brother was the one who sold me LOS for this years trip, he spent 6 months there last year and still won't shut up about it... great yarns altogether. I was very close to going on the trans siberian express to Bejing but listening to him talking about all the riding, drinkin' and other carry on that is standard in LOS there was no other choice to be made! I'll leave the trains for another while.
Hope this thread gets a few more posts interesting subject....

You waankeeer
Thanks for that Wallbasher:
You are the guy who I said I would try and help.(via PMs) to go down into the Soi Eric and find a girl you want to meet.
Not any more - if you are coming out again do it your self.

Sorry Crustasian,,, Did not mean to annoy you,,, was just trying to find a way to get in contact with that certain girl before my visit,, which isn't until next year,,,,
Hey,,, this is my first time being flamed----sort of---
I now feel like one of the group,,,
So I guess you won't try and help out an anxious fellow bm???

So you have discovered my secret identity. It's a curse to not have friends,, but a blessing also.
Really though , the mates I was with in April, were more interested in seeing how much Singha they could drink, rather than meeting bg's,, silly huh??

I had no problem doing both at the same time. Not really hard as long as you have 2 hands and some money.

Not formally,, we did have a many drinks at the MTB,,, we were either there or the Lets Go Bar. My mates were always on the move,, never wanting to stay one place very long,,, got worn out from going one bar to another constantly.
For instance our very last party day in Patong we stopped at over 15 bars that day alone. Can't meet people doing that.
will be there next april,, 6th to the 22nd,, would like to meet other bm's

i think it's not the number of bars you visited that counts...the only important thing for me is the amount of fun i have while in los. last time i was mostly just at mtb and love bar and had a blast

Agreed. Sometimes its better to find a handful of bars and really get to know the staff and enjoy there company rather than go to loads of bars and not spend enough time getting to know the people. Thats jus me tho

That is the tact I will be taking for my next visit,, 1st stop MTB, to intro myself, have a few Singha's, and go from there.
