Exclamation first timer wants quality experience

ok kids,

I am a california guy, first time off my continent. Arriving in mid-late Feb.

I'm not really interested in ******s but certainly interested in girls.
My dad just came back from Phuket and is 'forcing' me to go for 3 weeks.

Tell me about my first days/week.

Live music is my particular thing.

Point me into the right nooks and crannies.

please and thanx

Maybe check out Taipan disco near the end of Bangla Rd in Patong, live band playing up until midnight & then disco - lots & lots of girls & not all ******s ?but certainly lookers. Or the Irish bar on the beach road is where I've caught some interesting bands. There is plenty of live music venues in Patong.

It's a l o n g time to Feb

The Irish bar on beach road has a good band and the Irish bar on Bangla has a rubbish band.
For heavy metal there is Rock City and for jazz(if that counts as music) there is Saxophone, almost next door.

Hi Goodtobemike

To be honest rather that waiting for any replies on this board just have a good read through the Night Life section. I can put my hand on my heart and tell you that if somethings not written about on this board it really isn't worth knowing.

I'm sure you'll have awsome time in February mate.

The Fish

P.S It goes without saying that you should get your a**se down to MTB (Mai Thai Bar) off bangla and the lads down there will point you in the right direction.

Barfly, have you actually been into the Saxaphone club?
The last time I was there, they plyed mostly Blues and Rock until Midnight( with the occasional funky jazz tune thrown in!!!)
After that, it was mostly C&W with a little lite Rock (which I never stayed for but was described to me by the manager)
Very underated venue to my mind!!!!

If you are in Thailand for only three weeks and interested in girls you may want to re-think your strategy.

Like father like son, why do you think he is forcing you to go.
If he had a smile on his face remember this: "A smile enhances the value of your face and makes others wonder what you have been up to".

Didn't bother when I was out recently but went in June and it was non-stop tuneless Jazz. Maybe the owner has realised that Jazz= no customers, blues and rock= full bar with big profits!

Music makes money! When I was out recently I went into Coyote on Crocodile, great live rock and busy bar. I missed the first part of the band's announcement but heard the last part of "she's the owner" and they started to play wimpy elevator music. Everyone left! Hopefully the message gets through.
