just a quickie directed at some of the more experianced members of he forum,as i am still a mere novice compared to some of you guys!
on my recent trip i met a girl that said she used to work in tiger and was now living in bangkok with her mum ,she said she never worked laybar or a freelancer although im notsure! i spent a number of nights with her and she never asked me for a penny breaking my own golden rule of always making sure money changes hands,call me an amateur but i actually became quite fond of her,has anyone got any similar experiances or can anyone offer me any gen on the likelyhood of her being a non sex worker.

Regarding the non bar girl ,a tricky one ..this is.. yes you can find love in thailand and maybe she is telling the truth , but the truth is even if she isnt asking for money now , if you start a long term relationship with her or even marriage one day , you have to know a fact about thai families , you will be expected to support her and her family , its part of thai culture , if you marry you will required to pay money to her family for the privaledge (dowry) . she may not be asking for money now but one day she may start giving reasons that she needs your help , ie: her sisters are poor and need money for their schools , the father is disabled and cant work , need money for food , fix storm damage to house, sick buffalo ,and many ,many reasons etc...You need to ask yourself if you are prepared to take this possible commiment on , if yes then go for it and i wish you luck , if no then i would just keep her as a good friend .

I have worked and lived around the world for sometime now, mainly in developing countries and being a farang on a farang package the local ladies have always been over keen to get involved and get that ring on the finger.

I know from bitter experience(i.e second wife) that its all about the money in the end - I can hear all the love struck members of the board going love is all around us, but as far as I know and from what I have seen it's true.

When you take that beautiful brown eyed girl to your country or another first world country to live their eyes light up and they look for someone with a bigger bank account as suddenly you are not the next great farang hope but just one of many in a crowd.

OR...

You find out that she really does love you and life goes from good to great.

I suppose what I am trying to get at is you need to understand that realitively speaking you are rich and they are poor. Like Butterfly said you will be taking a huge commitment in her family as well as trusting that you know her and that you are not just blinded by your on love struck. Keep both eyes open and get advice from friends and family before commiting yourself because as the song goes, this couild be heaven this could be hell...
