Other peoples perceptions of LOS..
The worst two weeks I ever had was the first time I went to the LOS with my girlfreind at the time. I was surrounded by all this beauty and her sitting there asking me to keep my eyes to myself or asking me if I have had a good enough look.. Just madness I tell you madness.
My other time was with mates and I ended up having the best nine months of my life..
Now that I'm about to get my butt back over to heaven some of the girls in my office when they hear of my plans look at me and say stuff like: on your own? oh I know what your going for, you will be back here in a few months with a thia bride..
In general though I sense they are jealous that them with their pastey bodies, moody faces, and bull face attitude just cant compete with my Thia princesses..
What are others expreinces are you looked upon like some wierdo who is prepared to use and abuse for a fee or are some like only one girl I know fairly cool and think I'm a luck B!!

All my trips alone have been in connection with a business trip. Next trip, however, will be holiday "alone", so far I have not had any adverse comments.

Yes thats what I mean.. There perception maywell be correct but why should they express them in the manner they do?
I am coming on business.. Is sex business any diffrent from any other? I'm going with an objective, I negotiate a deal and with a tiny bit of luck I will achieve my objective and have a sucsessful trip..
The fact that I will be doing this alone does not make me some kind of pervert using my financial clout for my own pleasures or does it?
Oh moral dilemas.. Just give me a beer three Bg's at once and leave me to it

The way you explain it as a business trip sounds a bit cold. I like yourself enjoy the girls like everybody else.
However I actually enjoy the experience Thailand offers the beautiful area's the view's over samui island for example, you just don't get that and never will experience those breath taking sights here in the UK.
I enjoy the company of the girls listening to them, I enjoy everything opposite to what i know and am used to. This makes me feel like I learning and moving forward in life.
And yes sometimes as a bonus I may get a girl to come home and educate me some more......

as far as other people's perceptions
i dont really care because i have always done good things with my life so feel no one should question me
i was at xmas dinner and through conversation mentioned that my thai gf may come stay with me in Canada
there were some raised eyebrows, but all the people at the table know i have made good decisions in my life, have a good career, so why should they assume im not making a good decision when it comes to this?

True people will respect your decision unfortunately when you mention Thailand you will always have raised eyebrows whispers about whether it's right or wrong.
Because its not the norm or your not doing what everybody else is doing in society then it can't be truely accepted. To accept the way you live would mean in some way there own lives are not perfect and we can't have that now.

I personally would not say im going to thailand on my own to work collegues u dont need to give these idiots a reason to gossip behind your back im sure they do it anyway ...
most people will come to thier own assumptions but its whether u care less or not i myself DO, i have enough headaches and dont need people making judgements about me , its my personaly business and i like to keep it that way IMO

Who's the sex tourist?
This debate came up in work after I returned in July 2006.
I'm called a sex tourist and a girl sitting near me nods in agreement.......ummm if the cap fits.....I turn around and remind the girl that she has just returned from a freebie trip to Brazil with her new boy friend (he paid fot the travel costs) and that I had paid my own way to and around Thailand and I didn't need to open my legs to get a freebie holiday.
She shrunk away to get on with some work........point taken.
Names will never hurt you..........so no worries and be happy in what you do!

Hi Marc,
You said it all with this quote. At least, that's the same I think and experience. If your relatives know and respect you, they will also respect all of your decisions (as long as you don't hurt or ripp off other ppl of cause).
None of my family members are questioning my marriage and I haven't met anyone who does not wish us the very best of luck, that includes friends and work colleguas. I'm happy and so proud of her.
That day I picked her up from the Airport I had to give a customer presentation in the afternoon. Since I didn't want her to be alone at home on her first day, I brought her to the office. Everyone was so nice and took great care of her until I was finished.
And I'm just so proud that this is my girl walking next to me. In the shopping centers, supermarkets, everywhere. Somewhere on the Net I read that one has to be prepared for some strange looks or and silly comments from others, well, nothing of that is true for me. I don't experience any of this. And if you think about it, we live in such a multi-cultural society in Europe, that this is just perfectly the norm these days. I can imagine it's the same in the US ?
You marry the girl you love, anno 2006 no one is really surprised anymore that she is from the other side of the globe; more the opposite, they are rather interested.
The only time I only ever come across these discussions is on the Internet, discussion forums and sites like sticks. Maybe the paranoa comes from many Thailand travellers themselves when they feel the heat that "their" mongering got uncovered. The guys who are part of those forums or read those sites are experienced LOS travellers and
make each other crazy with all those different stories.
I got over all those negative comments from the net and in the real world I don't experience it.
So....that's my 2 cents on other ppl's perceptions on LOS, it took a bit longer to explain than I expected.
p.s.: I have on purpose not mentioned the media in this matter. They just blow up everything anyway, especially in the US & UK.

I always say that if someones giving you grief/talking about you, then they are giving someone else a break...
But i do hate people who have never even crossed the road, let alone travelled automatically think LOS=prostitutes and nothing else.
Gets my goat does that...
