Question is are Bargirls interested in younger men or, as in North American systems, are older men favored due to seniority or financial reasons. I am 18, Canadian, wondering if BG's would approach me or aim for someone who could be my father. And what do they think about Long hair on guys?

You age will not be a problem attracting a girl in Thailand. Obviously you will find some that go for older men and some that are "older" and don't seek younger men.
At age 18 you may have another problem ... I believe that you must be 20 to enter a bar or entertainment center in Thailand.

I have asked/read all about the age restrictions...it is "legally" 20, however I heard if you behave yourself and act responsibly it is often ignored

You are probably right, however, getting entangled in the Thai legal system is something that I would think twice about. Perhaps someone with first or second hand knowledge or experience care to comment.

Younger men? They love it. I have been wandering around Patong last night, and they have invaded the place! Last time for me holiday season! The girls are spoild, and old bast*rds like me, don't even get a look!

Well there was a time that I was the young guy, so I get over it!

To clarify I went in November 05 (I was 18 then, am 19 now) and just came back from Thailand for a second time last month. I had no problems with bars, clubs etc. - both in Patong and Bangkok. If you take a lady with you, often they'll ask her for ID but I didn't get asked. Granted, I'm 6'5 and probably look a bit older than my age, but nonetheless I think if you're on holiday and having a good time the general attitude is always positive.
Regarding age, I certainly wouldn't worry about it.. and to answer your question - Do bears shit in the woods? Yes, they'll love you. Mind you - with the BGs it's still all about the money so I wouldn't go there thinking "Yeah, I'm young, handsome.. maybe I'll see if I can get out of paying for it" cause you'll be in for a lonely night or 3.l

As long as you spend your money in the Bar and give em tips they will be all over you like a rash (or like the rash you will have the next day). Plenty of young mercs, expats, etc blow their money in Asia mate.

From experience yes they do like younger men which seems kinda logical but u still need to be holding some 1000 baht notes in the olf pocket , in fact i found a got a very poitive response from BGs , some would really hassle me in fact a bit too much , i was there in low season in BKK,Pattaya, and patong and some girls were all over me some wernt , but i remember on many occasions guys looking at me as if i had stolen all the limelight ,
just depends on you your attiutude, how u dress(i always dress smart, similar to how i got out here in london)

Just be confident and have a lt of money and well the skys the limit

as for the shouting, and grabbing-its happens to all, young and old

i think most girls that either have a big sponsor or already went ST will then go out looking for a younger guy
but there are alot of girls that wont go with younger guys also

Attitude, attitude, attitude! If you're walking into clubs/pubs with no smile on your face, expect nothing. On the other hand, if you're walking in with a smile on your face, or even lauging, expect everything! (I personally like to wai (bow - with Sawadee Krup, "Hello") Which shows my respect for their culture.

As mentioned if you want the girls to be all over you like flies on the proverbial, then - dress nice, smile, be funny, and have a loaded back pocket.

There is a bar in Bangkok where at any given stage i'd have 10 no less than 4 girls having a great time together. Need less to say, half the mongers in the bar aren't too happy with me, because I take the girls away, so I don't fequent this bar as much.

Want to really impress them? Then learn some Thai, especially slang words.
