One Laid-back Week Before Patong???

Hi all . . .

I have been to various parts of Thailand over the years, but have usually headed to either Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket (specifically Patong!) I did spend a week in Chiang Mai / Chiang Rei in 1999 before heading south, back to Bangkok and further down to Koh Samui where I spent almost three weeks.

I am headed over to Phuket again in early April for three weeks and would like to know where I can spend a quiet, laid-back week somewhere on Phuket before heading to Patong for about two weeks. Just far enough away (but not too far) from the action.

Somewhere where I can just relax on a nice beach, but also have a little nightlife in the way of Bargirls (should the urge arise) So far I have been reading my 'Lonely Planet' book and come up with either Kamala, a bit to the north of Patong, or Karon / Kata, a bit to the south???

Any suggestions anybody ???

THE BEACH IN KAMALLA IS VERY STONY/ROCKY..KAMALLA IS A GREAT PLACE FOR DIVING.......BUT FOR RALAXING TRY KATA...A BEAUTIFUL LITTE
VILLAGE WITH A GREAT BEACH [20 MINS FROM PATONG]....ANOTHER REASON IS THERE ARE ALOT OF SCANDANAVIAN CHICKS HANGING AROUND HERE......THATS IF YOU ARE UP FOR THE CHALLENGE........ALSO BGs AROUND.........

hi mate,in may u may remember i stayed at kata.15 mins to patong by tuk tuk,but lovely secluded beach.a few bars with bar girls and really quiet.for hotels theres a danish 1 on the corner i cant remember name at mo,i will try find out,but it was 350 baht a nite off season so a bit more in hi season,but very good value for the money.
