Does Patong ever sleep?

Just received a text from a girl in Soi Croc. Not a sexual aquaintance, but a friend all the same.

If I remember rightly the bars down that Soi were closing around 2 - 2.30 am when I was there in November - mind you as I was guaranteed to have been so extraordinarily drunk, what would I know - however, I do also recall walking around the corner and having at least another hour of drinking in Soi Gonzo.

Now I could be totally off with all this, but hopefully some of the longer timers or expats could offer some idea of closing times.

Anyway it is 1.45am Thai time or there abouts, as I type this, and this girl has just text 'Sabai dee kaa, I go out know, call you when come back'

Am guessing she means when she gets back home - otherwise she won't be speaking to me till around April time...!!!!

I really thought the Sois now had to close around 2.00am I know the clubs and stuff are open, I am just curious.

We're right in the middle of high season now Viper. Patong is absolutely heaving. Many of the bars are still open to 3 even 4 in the morning...especially in Gonzo. A few more brown envelopes are no doubt changing hands to extend the entertainment opening hours.

Maybe her call will be sometime tomorrow 5555555555555555555

Why come back - it's almost zero degrees here at the moment, been blowing force 9's most of the week force 10 for a while last week, especially when MSC Napoli broke her back.

Forecast is for snow before end of the week - and BA will be on strike for an undisclosed number of days!!!!!!!!!!!! Phuket sounds far better from this location right now, I can tell you

Got a lot of storm, not normal for January, more like October or March. Had one a few days ago looked like aChannel rat. Seems it has to do with the jetstream.

A French colleague from Le Havre has some good names for your MSC:
-Maffia Shipping Corporation
-Mediteranian Sinking Corporation.
By the way, not the first mayor accident of that company.

No, very true Captain -

not even for that poor ship so it would seem. Ran aground off Singapore in 2001 also - only that time she got off lightly - so too speak.

This time she has now broken her back and is losing cargo left right and centre off the Devon coast.

The news reports are the funniest thing - thousands of people swarming down on the place, removing cargo washed up left right and centre - 555555555555 - police are totally foxed as to what to do.55555555555555

at least all the crew got off safely. As a maritime related guy myself, that is the main thing

Just the Cornish wreckers, reverting to type.

I hope they don't get the battery acid and the perfume mixed up

I am surprised that this gets more news than the container ship that collided with the oil jetty in Rotterdam causing a 800ton oil spill.

Nope, Patong at the moment does not sleep, number of night clubs have licences to stay open to 4 and 5 and the others just seem to be copying them, we left Seduction the other night after 4, went over to Baya and left there think it was after 5 and it was still going strong. Late night bars still nopen all night as well, reckon you can also hit the high notes in the Karaoke after 4 as well, well I cannot but you might be able to, who the hech wants to sing karableedinoke at 5am??

Makes BKK look pretty boring. Bars shut down at 2am. Afterhours places are done by 3:30. Patong - nonstop.

Was in McDonalds on the beach front at about 7 or 8am on the way back from Safari. There were quite alot of young tourists walking in from the bars/karaoke's around Patong. So if you want to find somewhere to drink in Patong you don't have to go to Safari at the moment!

Got some shit (But I thought were nice at the time) pics of the sun-rise over the beach!

The coppers have, or are trying to close up the beach in devon, threatening to arrest anyone.
Bit annoying imo, if the genuine beachcomber types fill out the form to the "Receiver of Wrecks" its legal and above board, but the coppers are stopping them.
Most of the trouble apparently is big gangs coming from hundreds of miles away swiping everything to flog on ebay.
And the thought of some poor bugger getting his mits on a free bag of nappies or empty barrel which will all be written off to water damage has got the media in a frenzy, mostly ignoring hundreds and hundreds of seabirds already covered in oil and the 3500 tons of it that need to be pumped off before destroying the coastline.

least we baint lighting bonfires on the rocks thesedays down here to lure boats in

Had a story a few years ago when a ship carying a few thousand new BMW, Saab & Volvo cars had a collision an capsized before the Belgian coast. Received a lot of phonecalls from people wanting to buy carparts (tires etc). Everything was shredded as volvo had experience from a earlier accident where car parts where sold as new at a cheaper price. If something wrong, bona fide carowners could not get a guarantee on those parts.
What if you buy a new BMW motorbike or some new car parts, e-bay or at your local dealer, and you have a problem with them?
"Sorry sir, but this is not a legal new bike/car part and we can not repair it/replace it as it dos not falls under guarantee."

We had two containerloads of air filters on the napoli from work....Don't think they'd be number one priority for the scavengers though....If i lived there id be down on the beach myself...
