New pet peeve: fans in bars
OK, here's the scenario: you walk into a bar and order a beer. And then you realize that there isn't a single seat in the bar that doesn't have some fan blowing on it. Not the slow ceiling fan type fan, but a hig powered fan equivalent to a category II tornado. What do you do? Pay for your beer and leave? And it's not that it's hot in the bar. I've experienced this in an AIR CONDITIONED bar. My solution: pay for the beer and leave, and never come back. Screw it. They can find another customer. Of course, I may run out of bars sooner or later.

No more Jenga for me when there's fans around.
Rex, you may run out of bars.............Not a bad idea of doing a bar crawl to find one that suits you though!

Switch to indoor places. This is one of the reason I am rarely in the outdoor bars. Fans make me really tense. Of course at this time of the year you don't need fans.
So avoid outdoor places and come when it is cooler.

I'm with Rex on this one I suppose, I like the fans being on but not blowing a tornado !! One problem I have is that being a contact lens wearer, I find that a fan blowing hard and into my face dries my eyes up and causes me problems. Having the fans on low is much better IMO.

I don't like sitting directly under the fan either - but only because I'm not bald and don't have a short haircut -- man, fan passes, fix hair, drink beer, fan passes, fix hair, drink beer, fan passes, fix hair, drink beer....
I'm sure it would be even worse if I had a big comb-over....(hmm, something to look forward to one-day, maybe they will be hip by the time I need one...)
Cheers, Ro-baht

Rather a fan than aircon, aircon seems to wreck my lungs after a while.
Some of those fans dont half blow hard, i used to have a full head of hair till i went to LOS.... honest..

In november last year I was in one of these small bars on left hand side of Bangla Road facing the ocean. I started lightning and raining heavy. The electricity suddenly were gone and I realized fast how much I missed these fans blowing you almost of the chairs.

55555555555 I wouldn't leave, in fact I would probably stay there and come back again and again. I would also ask any of the staff if they could possibly turn up the fan power to a Category III tornado 55555555555555

Hair
I guess that must be my problem. I still have hair, and the fans messes it up.
What's with all the bald heads around, anyway? Is it just that it's easier to take care of in the hot and humid weather? The last time aI had my head shaved was when I ws in the Army, and I didn't like it.
