Police closed Bangla at 02 am tonight

For the first time in years, police closed Bangla at 02:00 am tonight.

We will see if this is just a temporary thing when high police is here or if it is something that will last.

Bangla and Sansabai was very crowded at this time as all the bars closed same time.

Well these are the official closing times.
If this sticks (which it won`t), just go out 2 hours earlier for same drinking time. Or am I missing something?

Absolutely right. Went out tonight and it was total chaos in the streets.

But frankly, I would not really mind the bars / discos closing at 2 (or maybe 3) as long as it’s CONSISTENT. These days I usually go to the discos around 1, just because that’s the time they start rocking, and they’re open until 4. If they fill up earlier, I will go earlier. Now: confused.

I refer you to the thread .."Does Patong ever sleep"..where it would seem the pendulum had swung a little too far the other way ...I agree consistency is the problem.

These efforts have been coming and going for years. They'll soon get over it.

Yes, I am used to it. But since tsunami it has been very relaxed here.

Actually closing rules are 1 in entertainment areas and 12 outside of those zones.

yep, full of juice and nowhere to go.
be blues at the food markets and where ever else.
recipe for trouble.
ive always thought for the amount of people on the juice in patong, it has always GENERALLY been a low agro place. most people are well behaved.
i hope this doesn,t change

ill compare boston and vancouver to nyc

bars close at 2am sharp and boston and same time most nights in Vancouver(sometimes 3am)
you get all those people spilling in the street, i have seen viscious fights. kids getting pummelled

nyc closes at 4am-sometimes to 5am
people tend to trickle out at all hours so you donthave that mass exodus and i rarely see a fight outside bars or clubs in nyc
now, that doesnt include brooklyn, bronx, or staten island-completely different story!!!

It wont .... fights mostly start over women and since there are more than enough to meet demand - little need for aggro here!

Wish it could be both ways. I like bars closing earlier because everywhere gets going earlier. But I really don't like the chaos a 2am forced closing causes.

I'm rarely still in a bar at 2:00 AM, but I hope they don't keep this up or have it spread to Pattaya.

Alot of my locals have a lock down at 2am....

Meaning if you are outside any hotel after 2 you are not back in......

Thus creating alot of trouble aroung cab ranks......

tho heading into the city where everything is 24hrs you dont get as much trouble as people leave as they please...

Just my two cents......

Last time I was in Patong we were home by 2-3 am...

Is there many places that are open later though?????

When I first went to Patong all the Bangla Bars closed at 02.00 and everyone just walked up the street to Soi Sunset. The bars there basically "kicked off" at about 01.00 and carried on all night , many still going strong at 06.00.

When they eventually closed it down (to refurbish Tai Pan and build Thailife) the Bangla bars started staying open later. Drinking habits changed , as people went out a bit earlier , which I guess will happen again if the bars are made to close at 02.00.
