A quickie trip report

Firstly, a shout out to D in patong! I know you gotta still be enjoyin things there. See you next year!
Just wanted to give a few insights about our 2 month trip to Thailand with the good and bad. Pretty much was a great trip and our favorite vacation ever. I went with my wife and we both enjoyed.
We spent a month in Patong. We visited most all of the beaches around Phuket. I was really interested in finding some beach snorkeling and was quite happy to find what I thought was very good snorkeling. My fav spot for snorkeling was the north end of kata noi. Kata harn was another really nice beach we loved. I'm probably getting the names wrong, as we saw so many places in the 2 months, its hard to remember names and places.
I also enjoyed a massage every day of the trip. Most of them were good experiences considering how many different places and girls I tried. A few were duds and needed some more practice, but even a bad massage ain't so bad. I came across a couple that were so good I wish I could of brought them home. Price for an oil massage is 300 in Patong, but Pattaya and Chiang Mai had 200 baht oil massage places. Besides price, another difference I noticed was that it in patong I never noticed any place offering a shower after the massage. In Pattaya it appeared to be the common practice that a shower was always given after an oil massage.
Nightlife in Thailand is quite the shocker as compared to America. We had a good time in both Patong and Pattaya when it came to nightlife. Oddly enough, our fav bar in Patong was the popular LB crocodile soi. Always a good time watching the LBs do their thing with the tourists. A great place to view and drink is the second floor of the bar right to the left as you enter crocodile soi. Sunday and Monday nights they have buy one get one free drinks happy hour, which was one of the best drink deals we found in Patong. We did find Pattaya more to our liking for the night scene. Drinks were crazy cheap with some great bars with girls missing their clothing. The bar called Peppermint was by far our fav. 50 baht beers all night and great looking girls often wearing nothing. I thought Pattaya bars had better looking girls than Patong, but maybe I did'nt hit enough bars to give a fair judgement. In Patong another fav bar of ours was Sharkys. Always plenty of girls up on the poles and decent drink prices. We also saw a few lesbian shows and a ping pong show as well. We did not do any of the 300 baht drink bars, as we just couldnt see paying that much for a drink, when so many other options were available.
Besides Thai girls, next best thing was the Thailand food. Staying for 2 months we tried to find cheap eats and had no problem finding it everywhere we went. In Patong a good place to eat is the second floor of the Banzaan market. You can buy fresh seafood in the market below and they will cook it for you upstairs. We also often went to Careefour and had fresh seafood cooked there. Phuket town had some good cheap eats. Pattaya has a Careefour market as well, with a huge food court attached with tons of cheap eating options. Chaing mai had cheap street food everywhere you looked.
We did bus trips from Phuket to Pattaya and from Pattaya to Chiang mai and then back to Bangkok. Being in Thailand for 2 months, we had time to do the overnite trips and they really were'nt too bad. We would travel by bus again.
We ended up spending 8 days of our trip in Bangkok. Next time we would pretty much skip Bangkok, even though we enjoyed our stay there. We stayed in the Khao San road area and prefered that area over the others. Price of the hotels being a major factor.
Overall we enjoyed everywhere we visited. Highlights were the beaches in Phuket, the nightlife and girls in Pattaya, and the shopping and trekking in Chiang mai. Next trip I hope to visit a couple of islands. We would certainly spend a month in Patong again, and probably spend more time in Pattaya next time. As well as having a bigger selection of bars with cute girls, Pattaya wins the battle of prices being cheaper than Patong when it comes to most things including beach chairs! 100 baht chairs in Patong seems pretty steep in comparison to 30 baht chairs in Pattaya. The downside being pattayas dirty looking ocean water.

So thats that. A good time was had by all with pretty much no bad incidents to report. Phuket was as good as expected and well worth return visits.
Btw, we ate pretty much everywhere you can imagine and never got sick on any food. We even ate raw veggies and drank water from the tap at our hotel in patong. Probably got a bit lucky there!

I can only speak for the go go dancers, since we never really visited the other kind of bars. The few go go bars that we peeked into or visited in patong, each place had maybe 1 or 2 girls that had the looks to be up there. In Pattaya many of the go go bars were just wall to wall with cuties with very few that didnt have fabo looks.
It could also be that we just spent too much time watching the LBs in patong and didnt hit enough of the other bars.

A few other random thoughts that I forgot.
One annoyance was the messed up transportation system where you cant get a bus going from beach to beach, but instead have to take a bus to phuket town and then from there go to another beach. We spent way too much time on buses! I know this topic has come up many times here. I could have solved this by using tuk tuks or renting a motorbike, but price ruled out tuk tuks and danger ruled out the motorbikes.
Jungceylon mall was just opening as we arrived in Patong and is gonna be quite the draw. Its fountain in the center is darn kewl.
Our hotel was located right behind jungceylon and we were thrilled with our room and the location and price. We would return to that same area again.
Even though patongs water isnt the prettiest in phuket, we did like the northern most area of patongs beach, where the water always appeared much clearer looking.
When finding massage girls, I took the advice of the BMs here and tried to choose the ones who were a bit older and chunkier and with strong lookings hands. It worked well most of the time. I did have one LB massage me and she was very strong and gave a good massage but was a bit aggressive in trying to sell the extras. About half of the other girls I went to wanted to give more than a massage. A few places I visited seemed to be pretty much just about the massage and not about the extras. One massage place the girl told me that they get fired if caught giving extras. Most places it was obvious that it was not a hidden thing. In pattaya it seemed as if there were always half dressed girls running around the massage parlor that I visited. It was always an interesting hour talking to the different massage girls. Gonna be hard not getting that daily massage now that I'm home.

Our hotel was called Charlemporn. It is right next to Banzaan market. There are a handful of other hotels on the same street. Right next door was Little Budha guesthouse.
