Last night tonight - where to go

My wife and I are on our last night tonight. Any suggestions of where to go. We are not party animals and like good food. It would be nice to try some local style food that is not hotel based - but safe and easy to order (must be ordered in English)

Cheers

Maybe it is a good idea to go to the Phuket Phantasea Show for your last night. It includes dinner in thai traditional style and the show will end about ten, so it will not that late.

Yes, agree with IJ. It's called Mae Ubol marketplace. Several restaurants to choose from and you get a feeling of how the locals (both Thai and expat) live...

I would recommend (to everyone) skipping the buffet at Fantasea. Overpriced and very average. Enjoy just the show instead.

metter: Where did you go BTW?

Talking Last Night

I always go to my favourite Restaurant where I have known the staff for many years, one even invited me to her wedding in 2000, so they are all like family to me now.

I buy them small gifts (usually something from the Man Utd store at sale time like an umbrella) and a card and it really makes them happy, no a lot to me, but as they usually only earn 300 baht per day, just a little soemthing really makes their day, and I like to see them happy.

My last nights have changed a lot over the years, I now just drop in to all the places I have visited during the Holiday for a quick drink and a goodbye, and then I usually have an early night (no later than 2 am) and an average amount of booze.

I have had some proper parties in the past, drinking until 5 am and then being woken bu the Hotel when the Taxi arrives at 9am and then being in a coma all the way home Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Fantasea is good as it is something to remember but I agree that you would be better off having an early meal before you go there. Go to somewhere like Da Maurizio where the views are spectaular over the ocean and you could watch the sunset, it is also on the way to Kamala where Fantasea is.

Da_Maurizio

Why not call in to Nickes MTB after the show I am sure he will give you a Black Death for the road.

Another place you could try is Mom Tris Boathouse in Kata, it is a nice restaurant and I was there at Xmas, great food and ocean views.

Or the Mangosteen Resort in Rawai again superb views of the island at sunset, but a bit of a drive.

The Mangosteen Resort and Spa Phuket,

Regards
