You won't have them as friends either by whining about them in a public forum.

I have found that if you are looking for the same quality as you would get in Oz, then you would end up paying about the same amount in LOS.
That comment made after getting tatts done in phuket then asking for cost for the same sort of tatt in Oz.

i paid about 1200 for a nice armband last year when in patong.
Down near (can never remember the name of them) those markets on rathutit rd... south of bangla.
Colour is still great he does nice intricate work. Have his card here somewhere if you want the name of the place.

The girl I was with last month wanted a tattoo. She said, "Yaak kutcher! Hai chan song paan Baht hai kutcher, mai?" (I would like a tattoo. Will you give me 2000 baht for tattoo?"
Thammai yaak kutcher. (Why do you want a tattoo?)
Chop kutcher! Kutcher sek-see! (I like tattoos. Tattoos are sexy!)
Kutcher jung alai? Ruup alai? Meuarai tit dtua. (What kind of tattoo? Picture of what? Where on your body?)
(Ponting to her upper right back area) Ao manphong tinii? I want to get a scorpion here.
Thammai manphong? (Why a scorpion?)
Manphong suay maak maak! (Scorpion very beautiful!!)
Mai chop phuying duay kutcher maak tao rai. Khun mii kutcher laew. Kutcher an neung paw laew! (I don't like girls with many tattoos too much. You have a tattoo already [small design across lower back area just above her butt]. One tattoo is enough!)
I was very surprised that this sweet newbie to the bar scene wanted a tattoo of a scorpion in a very visible location. You just never know about people, especially BGs! Needless to say, I didn't buy it for her. Maybe the next guy will?

I don't have any but am considering a tattoo, I have no real idea of the time it would take or how long the recovery is, so would it be better to get it done near the end of the holiday or at the start in case I had to return go back for any reason.

Keep it well moisterised and covered for at least 3 days and don't go swimming during this time. I do not like tattoos nor have any but many friends have and seen some real misery when above tips not followed.
Moisteriser needed to contain something, would it be aloe vera? cant remember, if anyone knows could help the poster.

Thanks Dodger,
I think I will reconder and get in done here in Brisbane, as the idea of trying to care for the tattoo in the begining might be best done at home and not wasting valuable holiday time.
Also I'm a big wus when it come to pain!!

bepanthen is the stuff you need. available at all pharmacies in patong....
be careful , as thailand is very humid and it,s easy to over moisterised. use sparingly. i lost some colour last year through using too much.
also i didnt relise how many new shops have opened in the otop markets .
there,s as mentioned above a tatt shop called 666 which i thought was where i had mine done.
i had mine done at " Riders House chopper and tattoo studio".
excellent artist and i mean artist. free hand , no probs.
