club lime

tried new place near rock city as went out on differenet route for once

done out nicely up to euro bar lounge standard

does food 6-10 (think)

upstairs and open sided so fresh-ish sea air as opposed to aircon

plays decent house

spoke to one of owners / managers (?) who suggested soft opening for now will advertise come high season????

up to them i suppose but seduction a case in point regarding difficulties of anything attempting to approximate high end / discerning

and location? (rock city has a niche)

hope it does well - worth a look

Tried to have a look the other night but it was closed (anyone know the closing time?) Thought it might not have opened yet as no one else seemed to have heard about it
The fromt door looked nice though

Club Lime (Beach Road)

I took a look in Club Lime (next to Saxaphone/Rock City on Beach Road) on Tuesday night ...

No admission fee - but that didnt seem to matter as even at 1am there were only 5 people in there! The club is set out on fisrt floor level and open to the air. A high end lounge bar with sofas all round and cool lighting.

Probably would do well in Ibiza or even Koh Samui but this place needs some serious marketing to get off the ground. I think it has potential if it could snag the throngs of people leaving Rock City (which I went to before that - my best visit yet - the place was packed, good live cover bands for U2, AC/DC and Metallica and noticed the prices in there have become more reasonable - Jack/Coke now 150 Baht from 195 Bt before).

Back to Club Lime - pricing ok 120 Bt beer/generic spririts and 200 Bt cocktails.

Possibly a good place for a private party if you have 50+ friends but longer term this place needs to find a niche in what is a very crowded club market.

(Dodger - not a place for your unbirthday mate).

I hope the place becomes succesful. Patong needs some more 'upmarket' entertainment and more diversity in the 'scene'. There are not enough 'clubs' yet. At least not what I call clubs.....

Good luck to Club Lime.

As generally seems to be the case with these things, I couldn't agree with you more.

Thanks for the report K2. Got a couple birthday parties coming up and we were looking for a semi-private venue with a cool vibe. Nice to have a new option rather than the usual suspects. Other upside is parking is a lot easier down around there.

Right off the top I'd say then need to drop the prices. Doesn't seem to mater how cool the place is, there is a lot of resistance to high prices. I think that is partly the problem (perceived or real) with Seduction really taking off.

Haven't been for a few weeks, but was only about half full on the main floor. Actually fairly sparse. That was a Saturday night.

I was there twice last week and was pretty busy both times - after 1 AM and the music and vibe was pretty good. I like Seduction better than any other night club in Phuket now. Banana is second best choice on music score - but the dance floor is too small/crowded.

Not been there for 2 years - dont like all that cement and music was very repetative/predictable .... its 1.22am so play xyz track and its more of a place to pick up FL's as is Tai Pan which I also dont really care for much. When I go clubbing I'm not on the prowl so for me music/atmosphere/crowd mix is the more important.

Other clubs been reviewed elsewhere including Tiger - would say Tiger is ok if your looking for a FL after hours and hopefully music has improved.

How old are you Kev? You get out much more than me and im only 16. Still that will be the ASBO!

Ok I haven't been to Bannana since the time I went with Hobbsy over a year ago, but I always found the music terrible. I only went there if I wanted something more white that night. As for seduction, I think everyone knows my opnions on it!

True! That is all Tiger and Tai Pan are. FL pick-up joints. But I always tend to find that the atmosphere in these places is alot better than the other 'Hi-spec' places. Maybe just because over the years I have come to know alot of the girls and staff in both places or because its where Dodg and Denv do there best dancing. But what I tend to find is that the newer places attract the snobby tourist or worse still, the backpaker with money. Though I suppose these are the clients they want as they dont mind paying more for things that I think are over priced.

This of course leads to the debate about how Patong/Phuket is changing and the what the new people want............ Still think the best idea would be to open a big childrens play area with supervison until 2-3 am. When the parents could come back from the bars/clubs to pick the kids up with the new Auntie/s. With these ideas, I dont know why I have no job!

Cant divulge that Si 55555555 - I always let the girls guess

I think that is a great biz idea ... you should get your CV round to the 4 and 5* hotels and get the Bangla play pen into action .... how about the old Extasy building next to Faulty Towers - I'm sure Crusty would be happy to assist you!

If I send you over a business plan and my CV, will you use some of your freetime and down the rounds for me as im still stuck here for a while! Of course if they Crusty would like to be a registered superviser, then I of course would look at his CV. But he will be put down a few marks to start, because of the 'tash.

I think its the T-shirts/tops that make the girls there think you are a tourist or not. So stop wearing your "Same, Same....." one!

Well that and if you sit next to Rob too mutt as he tips WAY too much!!!

As for the Hobbster - yes your right and the lethal rounds of LIIT he gets you into ... the amount of money he's tipped and guzzled thru Iced Teas he should have that exclusive area for Dragon Clan members only!

Mini-Review

Dragged a group to check it out last night. Here are some thoughts.

NO AIR CONDITIONING. I didn't notice that in the reviews above. 200 baht drinks and upscale with no air doesn't work for me in April. Lots of complaints within the group until it rained. Then it was funny watching the owners run around cranking down 8-10 big plastic rain blocks. This is because it is open air on all sides. I was uncomfortable as there was not breeze or noticeable fan. Needs an air con section.

Drinks suck and slow. I'm on water this week, but the girls ordered cocktails. They all complained. Chased down one of the owners. Reluctantly replaced one of the drinks. Dropped it off and walked away. Drink still sucked. Not good at 200 baht per.

Music. Current Ibiza chill house. very good. but with no other entertainment it is too mellow after 11pm. We were dozing off.

No single girls. Bring your own. Well a group of farang women came in...not sure if that counts.

No view. You're up on the second floor. Strangely the road and beach view was blocked.

Design. They put a lot of care and thought into it. Lot of detail work. But getting a little tired of the colored light reflecting off white Plexiglas look. Even Fuji restaurant at Central did that a few years ago. So upscale beach lounge.

Toilets. Down stairs.

Stand-off owners. I believe bar owners here must put th
