Phuket Police Arrest 116 People For Prostitution
 Could someone explain me how they (police) manage to do it.Every month on Phuket Gazette you can read about statistical performance -arrests- on different crimes such gambling, drug, ecc.. related offences. Prostitution is usually one of the top-ones. I'm trying to make sense of it.

Well I suppose this is a proof for those who keep banging...good pun
 ...on about bar girls; massage girls and all those risque "ladies" standing in Bangla Road every night that they are not prostitutes. If they were then there would be 4000+ arrests a month eh!

Can't see where the confusion is ???????
Police arrest people who are breaking the law , gambling , drugs , theft and prostitution are all illegal in Thailand.  The reason that they choose to ignore BG's is probably down to them not 'working' in 'brothels' , and therefore difficult to 'prove' their crime. As far as I know (and I could be wrong  ) most of the 'prostitution' arrests are basically 'shake-downs' of premises where 'tea money' has not been paid.P.S Do you live in Phuket ototto ?????? , just curious as you have it as your location but haven't done an intro , which can be helpful when others reply to your questions. Things start to make more sense now. I just didnt know that there are so many premises that dont want to conform with the law's guardians. Anyway, yes I' m living in Phuket and I was usually hunging up at the Expat Hotel coffe shop before the smoking ban took place.

If they played by all the rules that exists in Thailand, i think most of us would never come here.

I gather most of the arrests from prostition are not individual girls but from the more organised brothel scene enagaged in by the locals - the bit we rarely see.

There used to be girls standing on beach road between Bangla and Banana disco, they were arrested. I dont know where police draw the line, it looks same on Bangla late nights now.

It is really the same for gambling. A lot more going on then the arrest numbers indicate. I'm guessing there is a certain quota they need to fill to make it all look good in BKK. Arrest enough so it looks like they are doing something. Don't arrest too many to make it look like there is a big problem or cut into the tea money too heavily. Just don't want to be one of the unlucky ones...

What about this? :
Too many arrests on drugs related cases means something wrong with police ability to curb them. ( drugs problem is increasing) To many arrests on gambling cases means same as above. Few arrests on prostitution means same as above. The only answer for these policemen about this problem would be: apportion them as the big boss in Bkk desire to be.

Bg's mainly sleep with farang customers and the money transaction takes place off premises and quite often the following day, hence hard to prosecute for.
Freelancer on beach road can proposition a cardriver and bingo they are banged to rights, think its called legs eleven or something like that!! A Brothel worker can obviously be caught as they cater mainly for Thai and thai policeman can just go in and ask for service, think thats called unlucky for some number 13. Reckon a Bingo Hall here would be a good investment, shame gambling is illegal, hmmm must have to think my way round that one as I reckon I'd be a really good caller bloke, could make my own number sayings up just to confuse them old purplees!!!
