New Booze Law Soon

After approval by National Legislative Assembly then the following will have some impact for bars:

"Under the terms of the bill, sales of alcoholic beverages to persons aged under 20 are prohibited at all times and places, but sales in the vicinity of schools and temples are of special concern.

No alcoholic beverages are allowed on government premises, schools and hospitals. Neither are they allowed as give-aways or as promotional items at any place.

Advertisements for alcoholic beverages are banned at all times and places unless such ads have been produced in foreign countries and shown in overseas sporting events such as soccer games or golf tournaments broadcast in Thailand. No logos or trademarks of any alcoholic beverages are allowed on display or in sight at any beer garden or other open venues."

Bangkok Post Breaking News

As the brewers have backed downa nd are now supporting(?) this new law then would expect this is something else that will have to be enforced.

Two things come imediately to mind, firstly does this mean when we go into 7-11 now not only will the cigarettes all be covered by cardboard but all the alcohol also, look nice behind the counter one mass of second hand cardboard!!!

Secondly before some kid goes into school hitting other kids with a beer bottle, please do not let the do gooders start preaching about this rule causing the problem, saying if they had let all kids have beer bottles at school it wouldn't have happened!!

Why do governments continually tell us all what to do when we are consenting adults.
If you smoke in open air its your problem. ( I do smoke )
If you drink over the adult age you do so because you want to not because of advertising. ( I do drink )
If you take drugs because you think thats a buzz again thats your problem ( I don't ).

For feck sake let people do what they want to do whithout all this interference from goody two shoe politicians.

Seems they have softened this alot from some earlier drafts. Shouldn't have much impact on things.

The MIB will have great fun going round making money out of this one.

Their view of how far the school is.How many signs can be seen from the road.

What happens when I wear my Beer Lao shirt down town - am I breaking the law.

The future is looking grim for ROSSO!!!
