College Student and some friends going to Thailand and Asia
hey everyone,
I'm quite new to the forums and was hoping that some of you may be able to answer some questions... Sorry for not putting this in the newbie section... It was kinda a combination of things n questions... Me and some buddies are going on sort of an Asia aventure... this being doing some adventure sports, and other physical activities like hiking around Thailand and , staying with villages and really immersing in the cultures. Mountaineering and trekking in Cambodia... elephant rides etc. As we're college students and don't have a huge amount of funds available, we're going to try to do the trip in the most cost-effective way possible... Can anyone recommend a good time of the year to go to the countries, and also on a reasonable estimate of costings of countries. Are they all quite inexpensive? As in accomm and food and such? We are all a pretty active bunch, wanting to see the sights, but do the trekking to villages in the countryside kinda stuff also. Can anyone recommend some good areas? i heard that Shang Mai or somewhere is quite good? Also... one of my buddies who is traveling with us is having his 21st birthday whilst we will be most likely away and the boys heard about Asia being cheap for "happy endings" and the like... As we're strapped for cash, but still want him to have a "memorable" birthday, can anyone recommend particular areas in the Asian countries that would cater for our requirements?? That and also when we visited Prague during last break, we met some aussie guys that had been to Thailand and said that they had "working girls" give them sex for 110 baht. Is that expensive? I think that they said they went to a chain of brothels or something?? They mentioned the name of two different companies that had multiple locations around Thailand or Bangkok... Not sure... Are they common Thai companies offering such a priced service or would that most likely be far-fetched? Is it possible to get girls for under 500 baht? Would it be directly through the girls? Or would they maybe be in Laos or somewhere else?? Sorry if offended anyone, but just wanted to show buddy a good time... thanks guys, Steve

Welcome to the board Steve. The other more experienced board members will definitely tell you to have a good read through the forum since all your questions are answered in one place or another. I'll just fill you in on the little bit that I know. First of all, you're not going to get any working girls for 110 baht or for less than 500 for that matter. You might be able to score a ST for 500 but even that might be stretching it (and that 500 baht doesn't include the barfine if you take a girl from a beer bar or a go go) There aren't really chains of bars per se as much as there are a group of bars owned by the same company (especially in Bangkok). I don't know much at all about other countries in SE Asia except the Philippines so I don't know how much good that would do you. But have a read through the forums and I know you'll find all the answers you're looking for.

Ah yes, the "friend" who is looking to find the prostitutes....... ;-)
Well, at some point you'll be in Bangkok I presume, cos of flights etc........just head off to the area called Patpong and go to some GoGo bars- you'll have a blast there!! For prices- it'll be about 500 baht to take the girl from the club (barfine), then about 1,500 baht to bang her back at your hotel. Or you could go to a disco or bar where there's what's known as 'freelancers' who aren't working there, but are just out and interested in picking up guys for cash. That way, you miss out on the barfine........you can find these places all over, including Patpong and also Kao San Road (the backpacker place in BKK)

The afternoon beach girls in Patong only charge 300bht and believe it or not some of the girls in Kamala charge 130 baht at last knockings, not from personal experience but from knowing a girl here and then meeting her in Bangla Road, she told me she was fed up going st for 130baht if she hadn't found a guy by closing time.
But more commonly yeah losd is correct, take a free lancer, then you have no bar fine to pay and negotiate long time at 1000bht or short time at 500 baht. As you are travelling you may find things a little cheaper up north of thailand on your tour but not by much. Cut back on eating euro food and choose to feed yourself from the roadside vendors, this will save you money, buy your beers in the small bars and not the nightclubs, this will save money. And whilst you may think its nice to not pay the girls, remember they have to make a living and have rent etc to pay, they need to buy food as well as you!!
