Many places.
* Aussie Bar on Bangla Rd
* First bar on left hand side as you enter Soi Seadragon (Phil is the owner..he loves a beer)
* 2 Black Sheep on Rat-U-Thit Rd (next to open air restaurants)
* Bushranger Bar n Grill - also on Rat-U-Thit Rd, but heading in the opposite direction
Bushranger and Soi Seadragon bar both have nice large plasmas and are the quietest options for watching a game.
Aussie Bar is usually very busy (for night games) and 2 Black Sheep has musicians etc playing which can be a distraction.

By the way, the screening times in Patong follow the Fox Footy timetable.
Any game that is being screened on Channel 10 live into Australia will generally be shown on delay (~3 hrs) in Patong, as per the case with Fox Footy.
Most of the bars have a sheet up showing which games are being televised and when.

Yes, good bunch in there. Phil is a character and he put on a free BBQ one day for patrons - much appreciated by this carnivore.
Couple of the girls there taught me some Thai one arvo.
Bai nai sow suay
Bai nai bai duay
Two phrases that worked a treat.
Phil - the owner - is a Hawthorn Football club supporter.

Sailor BAr
The Sailor Bar on Beach road also plays the AFL. I always watch the games there as it is not as busy as the Aussie BAr in Bangla.
The beers are always cold.
Cheers

If you have the Australia channel in your loom you can watch
some AFL and NRL, you wont be disturbed during the game.
I sat in the Auzzie bar one night and was talking, hardly noticed the game I really wanted to watch....
NRL STATE of origin in about 9 days.
Thats worth a look no matter what sport you enjoy!!
 Bring back the BIFF!

Agree, the Octopus Bar is a great place if you're after AFL/ARL games...it's the first bar as you enter Soi Seedragon (on the left hand side)
Phil, Rambo (and Bowy when he's in town) love their sport and they and their girls will surely show you a good time.
It's airconditioned with 6 pool tables upstairs and downstairs (the girls are seriously good at pool) and they play some good music..
They even sell Singha light (3.5%) which is not common in most other bars around. (believe me, it's handy when you plan on being UP all night!)
There's gonna be big crowd there for the AFL finals in late September..and I'm sure Phil will crank up the barbie...

Good thing is that you can watch the replay in your room the next morning while TG sleeps...
That's what I did when the mighty Magpies creamed Sydney in June.
(I managed to do my own 'creaming' after the game..) LOL

Kangaroo bar will be showing afl during the morning with sound as well and usually draws a crowd of loud mouthed aussie thinking AFL is the only football code worth watching. Or you can try Sailor Bar on the Beach Road. Its usually quieter there so you can watch the game in peace.

I am Going to Chang Mai soon, any pointers to a similar sports bar there to stop me going more insane than I am already. Last time I was there I didn't see more than a small pocket of bars. I need my footy.

ABC Asia alos shows AFL. Not many games you would miss out on. Generally with the range of cable/satelite channels most games are covered.

We also visited the Aussie Bar when we were in Patong, however the pool games upstairs and downstairs, were a distraction.
I dont know also, maybe i thought because i was on holidays, i didnt want to watch the footy, as i was in a foreign country, and if i wanted the footy, i should of stayed home instead.
