Got hit with a bill for 2 small bottles of Tiger at one of the bars under Tiger last night 2 x 140baht!!

That's a bit steep and we expressed our dissatisfaction before leaving. Think the staff may have been on the make with the boss being away as they couldn't come up with a printed price list and said the boss had told them to charge 140.

Will certainly be swerving that bar in future. 20 yards away at another bar....80baht.

If it was at the center row of first 3 bars from the front, the last of which is right across from Love Bar, then that is the price, if not more. I don't remember exactly what I paid there, but I do remember thinking, "Wow!! That is very high for a Tiger beer!" Seems to me it was least that much, maybe more. You are paying for the dancing girls there, who are extremely hot, and well-paid, as well.

BTW, how is it going with the dancing girls that Major Tom was hiring for Love Bar????

No it wasn't that bar...and I know the one you mean because I don't frequent that one any more either because of the 200baht ladydrink price. It's in fairly close proximity though but did not have what I would call good looking dancing girls.

If you don't like his staff lady drinks priced at 200baht you won't like the 230baht for a dancers drink.

Sit in the Love Bar watch there dancers and see the expensive bars dancers all for a lot cheaper price.

They have been around since beginning of April, and still there. It seems to work pretty good.

About the other bar you refer to, Jagger Bar: i have a Heineken there once in a while and its 120B. Stiff pricing, but still the busiest bar in tiger.

Did a nice little trick (or tried anyway) on us the other night. 180 + 80 = 360. Before I was even half way through explaining the "mistake" the bartender was apologizing and correcting it. No way he could have understood that fast if it wasn't intentional.

Lucky you were sober enough to spot it. It's a numbers game. They probably catch 1 in 5.

If a bar beer is charging more than 80 Baht for a beer then they are ripping you off.Never go near them again.

Perhaps we should start a list of shame identifing any such bars.

Yes, there's too many of them charging too much, of late. I've been caught a couple of times, with 70 baht for a coke, 70 baht for soda, 80 baht for Sangsom, 90 baht for a Singha, oh and even 120/150 for a Spy(?).

I usually ask to see the price list/menu first, but often say they don't have one, which leaves me in the embarrassing position of appearing "kee niaw", if I then ask how much various things are.

On occasions, if they say they haven't got a price list, I just say "mai bpen rai", (never mind), walk off and go somewhere else.

Les, no need to worry.................All bm owned bars I know of, charge 80b for the run o the mill beer in bottles............That was in March 07

Can remember thinking that the first few bars when you enter Tiger charge over the top prices. Its not till you get 2 -3 bars down that the prices come into what I consider reasonable. But then im tight!

The last time i can remember drinking at Sharkeys was at least 2 years ago. At the time it was expensive, must of gone up since too.

I was in the Jagger Bar at the end of April and was so bedazzled by one of the girls

that i did'nt realise i was getting charged 200baht for a Heinikin and 230baht for a lady drink(i was sober this time). When i paid they had the cheek to ask "tip for bar service?"

ps i always walked past soi tiger (what a fool!) till i met Nicke whilst on the way to an emergency pee and drank till nearly four

From distributors in Phuket now (not sure if all of Thailand), cannot get VB or Crown Lager here anymore.

Disappointing but many other beers to choose from...

My wife and I kept going to Soi tiger on the way home after Mai Thai bar close about 2.30 each night to carry on the fun. Don't know what they were charging really as I was too pissed to worry.
The bills would not have been too high or the missus would have said so.
I think most bars were charging about 80-90 baht last week when we were there.
Kept leaving tiger about 4.30am with a beer in hand each so was not much more than the cheapest beer around Bangla which was 50 baht

Since this thread is about the price of beer, then if the beer is really cheap there, then it is a good post. BUT it didn't say how much the beer is. If it is 50 Baht, then that is cheap. If it is 80 Baht, then his post is not only blatant advertising, but perhaps also dishonest, as 80 is par, not cheap. Over 80 is pricey.
