On our first visit to Soi Eric last week my wife and I were immediatly grabbed by girls the minute we walked in the Soi.
My wife told me straight away I can't do this so we turned and headed back out the Soi. I thought great. Now I won't be able to visit MTB and spend a few hours drinking each night.
Boy was I wrong. At the pool the next day we got talking and she said she was up for another try and that she freaked the night before.
That night back we went and although initially still grabbed by girls just saying no stopped them doing it. From that night on we just laughed and joked with them even when going to the toilet.
By the third night my wife was even happy to walk to the end of the Soi to go to the toilet on her own.
That was it. Every night we went MTB and when that closed on to Soi Tiger for some more fun and drinking.
Next thing my wife gets so confident she was also up on the bar dancing with the bar girls.
Before we knew it it was 4.30am every morning before we got back to our hotel.
The girls are great fun if you relax and have fun with them.
Can't wait to get back.

Good story dbaron…funny how your wife became less inhibited as the week went on. Now if it was you dancing on the bar? Sounds like both of you will be back again soon

Maybe he makes it up and it was the other way around - she had to drag him into the Soi's for a second try 555555

There are lots of good tricks on this thread, but the only thing you can really do when you enter a soi full of bargirls is: take a deep breath and plan on getting grabbed. There's really no avoiding it, so you just have to take it and not let it bother you. Certainly don't feel guilty about not going into their bar.
Just two pieces of advice if you're not in a mood to be playful:
1. Don't say "no" or "mai chob". Don't say anything at all. Don't even look at them as they pull your arm. Just pull away steadily and without any violent movements.
2. DO NOT LAY HANDS ON THEM. Some have suggested grabbing them back in fun. This could backfire very seriously in Thailand. It's a really bad idea. What if the girl happens to be a bit crazy, maybe just jilted by her ATM? What if she decides that, since you're not going with her, she'll get your money another way? If she starts hollering and your hands are on her, every Thai within range will automatically assume that YOU are the offending party. Police are called, farang pays. Worst case scenario, you could end up as the ball in a game of Takraw.

I go with your first options, sounds like the way of least resistance.
Just one warning, don't try this at home, you might get dissapointed :-)

I wouldn't be too sure about this. At the end most woman seek security & family. And money is king when it comes to security in that matter.
Of cause, no rule without the famous exception, but that's where it comes down to in the West as well.
Shit, it's just though being hansum, where ever we go 5555

Therapy:
Go to the Offshore Bar, Nanai/Nanai 2, get punched on the shoulder by either Gary or Danny and then you'll realise that being grappled by a BG doing what she's paid to do is actually quite pleasant !!!

My question is how do i avoid this attention when on the hunt ? Shall i say im gay ? mabye that im looking for a freind ??? any suggestions
My next question is , when u go to gogos etc , bgs always seem to ask me to buy them drinks asap i dont mind but often if i going to a lot of places it gets expensive and pointless as i dont even drink so much myself ..... Do you guys just cough up and buy them or do you only buy them if ur thinking of bf ing a girl. if u dont cough up what u say ???????

Never take your shirt off if you are worried about being grabed. You seem to want it all. Im sure by the time you get home you will be missing all the attention. Its thailand for f!@# sakes.

Grapped by the girls or MIB. At least in one respect you must be speaking from experience:

you should always at least make eye contact, make it obvious and get at least a smile in return before taking a pic of one of the gals ...just common courtesy
