Tackerling unwanted attention from Bgs

Hey everyone .

I just wanted to ask a few questions from some veterans bms on here.

when i go out at night i dread walking up and down the soi's looking for a nice girl to spend some time with , i really hate when they physically grab hold of me , and do that usual shit ! its embarrasing and often i dont want to go with any of these types of girls ....

My question is how do i avoid this attention when on the hunt ? Shall i say im gay ? mabye that im looking for a freind ??? any suggestions

My next question is , when u go to gogos etc , bgs always seem to ask me to buy them drinks asap i dont mind but often if i going to a lot of places it gets expensive and pointless as i dont even drink so much myself ..... Do you guys just cough up and buy them or do you only buy them if ur thinking of bf ing a girl. if u dont cough up what u say ???????

A good question. I often just want to wander round and not be pestered by an endless stream of BGs. I thought in a gogo if I said early on that I wasn't buying them a drink they would leave me alone but no such luck, they just keep coming back like flies round a honey pot. I just drink up and leave and realise it's best to stop at one bar for a while and it doesn't matter much to buy the odd drink for a BG, even a few if you are having a good time with her or playing the bar games. I'm not stingy but it would get very expensive to buy an extra drink or 2 in every bar if you are on a bar crawl.
I don't think the owners realise that they would make more money if their girls left punters alone if they want it that way and not chase off paying customers.

i never really found a problem on my trip. yeh sure girls would try and pull me into a gogo or bar but it was all good fun..i just said i'd maybe be back later..had to meet a friend. all very lighthearted.
as for the drinks. if i was playing a "jackpot" or "connect 4" etc i'd buy the girl a drink. any of the girls that were a bit full on ASKING for drinks..i just smiled and said maybe later. they seemed fine with this.

however the funniest bg i encountered was one just starting her shift...she hadnt even put her bag behind the bar when she marched straight up to me and said "dink for me"? wtf!!!! this girl had no shame. had to laugh tho. i was at the end of my beer so moved on to another place.

Walking down a soi and being playful with the girls is part of the fun. When they grab you, it is usually in a playful way. Be playful when you turn them down, but also be determined to keep walking. These girls do understand a "No", but also understand that many are not good and saying "no" repeatedly. Tell them you are meeting your mother a few bars down; they will know you are lying, but will have a little fun with it.

One trick that I have found keep them away, is to pretend you are texting on your phone. The have the utmost respect for that. Done is a couple of time when I was determined where I was going (i.e. from Bangla to MTB). As I said before, joking and flirting with these girls is part of the fun.

yeah most of the time there joking but ive had a few physically hold me back with serious strengh i had to use serious force to get one bg off me and she was awful ..

I like the im meeting my mum comment and i think ill try the texting one but the only problem with that is that i cant keep my eye on the game ... hmmm

I always have some girls hanging out with, and everybody leaves you alone! Cost some few extra drinks, but you are free to sit back and enjoy the wiew!

While walking down Soi Sea Dragon I got gradded by this girl that was really not appealing, not ugly, just kinda strange looking. She really grabbed a hold with both her arms wrapped around one of my arms and did not want to let go. I stopped trying to pull away and looked her in the eye and just shook my head "no" in a way that said I was sorry, but I am not stopping. She continued to hold on and look me right back for about another 15-30 seconds and then let go.

Right next door in the next bar I found my bar fine for the next 6 days. If I had been really bothered by this incident I may not have noticed my dream girl for the rest of my trip.

I do agree with a couple of posters above, you should try to make it fun, even with the aggressive ones, unless it gets too sticky. After all, this is Thailand and much is written about avoiding confrontation and having much Sanook. On my next trip I will try to make it a little more fun, but still be adamant about moving on.

That's why I believe MrDK said he only does this when he is "determinted where he is going". In other words, I don't believe he is looking, just going to a specific bar/location and not looking. Otherwise, I also believe this would be difficult to do this and look at the same time.

From my humble experience in this it is important that they do not loose face. So if they grab you just smile and be nice and try to keep on walking. If they are more persisting say you have to meet someone but you might come back and give her a compliment. That works well and she will let go and she has saved face.

this is true...the girls at the end of soi eric as you go into the toilet were real grabbers....they could see i was drinking in mtb but they still made a grab everytime i went past. id always say how sexy they looked ....or some other line. was always big smiles and joking!

If you smoke, you carry a cigarette in front of you...stops a lot of grabbing, but not all. If you carry 5 baht like you are going to the toilet, you just say, "sorry I'm sitting at another bar...." or "my girlfriend is over there...". Also, as said before, carry your phone like you are texting or talking...

The fake "wave" to a friend works sometimes, the misdirection by pointing to the right and juking to the left works sometimes, the falling to a knee and darting under their arms works sometimes, the ACME spring shoes where you can leap over them works sometimes......

Oh yes, they always love to be told that they are sexy or sweet and that you maybe will be back I always stroke their shoulders or upper arms at the same time and they will alway let go. To me this is part of the fun and charm of walking in the sois.

55555555 I have tried most of those too. The 5 baht and pointing to hong nam is my biggest success. Doesn't work coming back though

I think it’s all part of the fun. Normally a no thanks and as long as you keep on walking…no problems. When I’m just looking around searching for that girl that catches my eye I just say I’m looking for my friends and that opens a path. Anyways, just part of the experience that I quite enjoy.

Funny, on my last tour last month, I was actually dissapointed by the lack of attempts made to grab me, must be getting old and ugly or something.

But in all seriousness like other folk have said just keep it light hearted say no and have a joke with them and the old "maybe later" line, though that can only be used so many times until you have to give in.

The biggest problem with the girls grabbing (for me anyway) is that I rarely end up where I intended to go!!!!!
I got to within 3 bars of MTB one night and still never made it!!!!!
Just easily distracted, I guess!!!!
