Bangkok vs. Phuket? Pros/Cons, Preferences?

OKAY, vets.

I'm planning my first LOS venture and not sure where to plant the rod. Phuket looks very cool, esp. after seeing that I could get a beach side resort room. Plus Nicke's bar, MTB, looks pretty cool too.

Does BK have something like that to offer? I'm preferring Phuket so far, but the direct flights there are much more expensive than to BK. Would it still be worth it to pay extra or is it cheaper to fly into BK then take a Thai Airways to island hop?

Lets hear your experiences. I'm a newbie at this.

I suggest you take a direct flight to Bangkok, spend some time there and then use domestic flight down to Phuket. Thai Airways charges ~5500 baht for roundtrip but if you plan ahead you should make booking with Air Asia (www.airasia.com) and this can get low as 1300 baht for a roundtrip ticket.

Bangkok has lot of action but also lot of traffic and the places are far from eachother, for me personally 3 days is enough in Bangkok.

In Phuket most things is within walking distance and it is more relaxed, later closing time and many activities you can do, e.g. fishing, diving, snorkeling, cabaret shows, ATV, gokart, elephant trekking, sea canoe and so on.

Patong on the other hand is mainly in one area, bangla. So if your new to the place its a lot more user friendly than BKK.
You dont get touts in Patong either. hussling you into going places.

take it you aint been down soi bangla,sois eric,seadragon,easy and gonzo as well as beach road.everywhere i go in patong i got people hassling me to go into there bar or come see there sex show.

I like the idea of everything in walking distance. Are the girls in BKK any diff. from the Phuket girls? BF more? Girls prettier in BKK vs. Phuket?

What about food? Cleanliness of the areas?

what is it your are looking for when you wanna go to Thailand, what do you wanna do...?

Maybe you should give us a detailed list of wants and wont's and i am sure we can advise you. Even wich hotel fits 2 your needs.

Bangkok is definitely the big city like everyone says it depends what you're looking for.
As far as girls there are allot more to choose from in Bangkok but they tend to be pricier than Patong eg. you may pay between 1000 - 1500 ST plus 500bht barfine in Bangkok and generally speaking 1000 LT plus 200bht barfine in Patong.
Patongs more laid back and accessible and of course there's the beach both are good but very different personally I'd go 3 nights max BKK the rest in Patong.
As most BG's will say when questioned on just about anything involving a decision upto you!

Here is what I’m doing in July. One night Bangkok then direct flight to Phuket ($20US one-way). Nine days Phuket then direct flight to Pattaya ($67US) Nine days in Pattaya then Taxi back to Bangkok for my last two nights. Taxi and Airline tickets should be less than $100US. Bangkok can be fun, but the traffic makes things suck if you want to leave for trips outside the entertainment areas. The smog sucks as well and I never remember when flying as aircrew into BKK being able to see the runway until about 10 miles out. There is always a haze over the city. You will find the beaches in Phuket unbeatable. The nightlife should be outstanding. I have never been on the ground there but I have flown over Phuket. Pattaya is simply the bomb. Been there many times. Beaches are nice but not like those of Phuket. The nightlife is like nothing else in the world, including Bangkok. So make several destinations and you will be most fulfilled.

If you go to Bk, Phuket or Pattaya, all the same, you have to find a girl who suits you, bit more choice and quality in bk, but if you look around a bit same everywhere!

But if you want to furfill all your sexual fantasy's, I heard nothing beats the Eden - club in BK! i maybe just take a stopover next time, just to try that!

They do everything! A***l, pe*, sttip on, 2 girls! Never been there, but must be great to try out everything you like!! Not always possible wit bg!

Bkk, PHu, Pat...so many choices, so few days. I'm only there for 10 days max. Of course, by then my weinie will prob. be so sore anyhow.

Yeah, Eden, this place sounds awesome, but with the exotic stuff what will the quality of the girls be like? An0l sounds yummy but I still like the girl to be hot!
