In Phuket in August
Wow, just confirmed that I will be in Phuket on the 3rd of August and I look forward to it. This will only be my second visit and have not been in August. Can any BM's advise me on what is happening next month and if there are any special events on. I also went on the James Bond Island tour last time and look for something different. What other day time event would boardies recommend please.
I did enjoy meeting people at the Mai Thai bar. Is this still the beer bar to go to or are there other suggestions.
I have been to Pattaya and love the Bamboo with its mix of live music and loads of FL's and great dancing. Is there an equivalent in Phuket that you would recommend.
Are there any clubs or dancing spots in the large hotels that anyone would suggest?
Thanks to all.

I know you will have a great time but just a word of warning that there are dangerous current in the sea at that time of year so be careful there.

One of the boardies suggested a day trip to Phi Phi. Can anyone advise what sort of undertaking this is from Patong? How long and how much? Thanks in advance.

Itīs a very easy undertaking, they have lotīs of theese one day trips to phi phi, and they are cheap. They pick you up from your hotel with car, drive you to the boat, the boat takes you on a sightseeing around phi phi, stops at som beaches etc... Then when you come back to patong they drive you back to the hotel. Havnīt been on one myself, so donīt know if they are any good. Im planning on going for a week to phi phi myself.

Sea Plane
I did the Sea Plane before the Tsunami. It took about 15 minutes to fly there and we landed next to a floating pontoon where we transferred to a ocean going cruiser. Our boat was quite big compared to a lot of the others and we did the de rigeur bits of Phi Phi before having lunch in a rather indifferent cafe on the beach.
Certainly something to see, but what it is like now I have no idea. At the time the trip cost 6000 baht per person.

I found if you book a trip from one street seller, you can get a great discount when you go back to book another trip. Also, I found asking for their best price/discount, it came without any problem.
I booked JB Island for normal price, and got Phi Phi half price (1400baht IIRC)
