Under Age Bar n Disco's
Hey me and 6 people are going to pattaya for 4 nites then to phuket for 7 nites
the problem is my gf is only 19 and i read on forum that the legal age is 20. what i wanna no is what will happen if she gets caught? will she get thrown out or worse? she looks 20 though and all the rest of us are between 20 and 30. we just wanna go to bars n maybe couple of disco's i no she will proberly get let in?? i just wanna no the chance of cops comming in and checking every1's id?? and whats the likely outcome? we where thinking that maybe we shouldn't take our passports and if cops come we just leave? and they wont no she 19 but that we just left our passport at hotel. thanks for any advice.

No problem at all in Phuket, IF the police come (which is very rare) they will check the IDs of the Thais, not the tourists. Same with drug tests.
In Bangkok it may be different thought, as I recall one or two farang girls busted and was thrown into a jail over night.

Was he 'picking' Les or just letting him know, maybe this is a UK/Australia different emphasis or understanding or implication, because I read his 'no' post and felt he had offered his advice on its spelling as we all make errors when typing but to do so 4 times in one thread perhaps implies the OP does not know how it should be spelt and he was trying to help him. And just incase you do not get the point of my post, its not going at you but offering an explanation, wonder if other UK/Aussies see it differently, any way is it important...nah suppose not.
Back on topic, Duncs was 19 when he first came to live here, he never got ID in Patong but was stopped one night in Bangkok and the door staff just told him he couldn't come in without ID or if under 20.

I have to admit, I was worried about the title of this thread I thought it was some weird rock spider looking for tips on how to pick up at underage discos or something. Oh boy was I relieved when I actually read the post.

In Pattaya (as in Phuket) foreigners are seldom, if ever; ID checked for age unless of course it is obvious they are under age with Lucifers Disco being the possible only exception.
Bangkok is a different matter and even I was asked for my ID last week at the Bed Supper Club.

As the others BM's have stated, I've never seen farang's being asked ID...always thai though.
I'm sure you'll have no trouble...but if they do come and ask...just do a Luke Skywalker. "These are not the droids your looking for".. and they'll just move on.

Thanks for replies and advice i thought all would be good with getting into bars n such my gf was just scared of getting thrown into jail so i thought id get some other peoples opinions.
I think well just be more carefull in pattaya bkk but like i said 6 out of the 7 are like around mid 20's and she looks 20 easily so all should be sweet sorry about spelling didn't no people could be so anl on internet forum and im new so ye

it would be highly unusual if cops actually asked her for proof of age.....particularly if she looks like 20 or so to you guys.....cause she'll look a lot older to a thai cop
as the guys have said above....they are more interested in Thai people taking drugs than falang out enjoying themselves

I look like 18 even though i'm 23... was wearing burms and tee... that bespectacled innocent looking boi was waved thru without a thot into BANANA disco. whereas the thai ladies who look above 25 were still checked...
diverting a little... most thais don't look their age... as in... the ladies look younger than they are... is this a generalization??

Yeah, I think it was Obi-Wan...
Do all pubs/discos etc... have 20 as a "legal age" ?? because here in Finland it´s common that some nightclubs have 25, 30... just to get rid of the youngsters...
