Exactly so she is generally speaking, we need generalisations to quickly detail the majority veiw or majority perception, be that of an individual, a state, country or the whole world.

A generalisation IS pre-judging someone, if you make generalisations on groups of people/skin colour/race (NOT football teams!) from a small number you are pre-judging whole groups of people.

So if I generalise and say that " All Banana's are bent' am I pre-judging banana's? does placing the word IS in BIG letters make you some how more right, nope opinions are like a-holes, everybody got one.

If people don't have a problem with generalisations on people's skin colour or where they are from then its their view, each to their own.

Spot on, so your point is, I say generally generalisation are accurate, and based on majority perception or fact be it individula or otherwise.

This has nothing at all to do with age , there are a lot of young people with a vast amount of experience and knowledge of Thailand , what I found strange was the fact that the BM he quoted has been to Thailand a lot and has considerable experience.

I never said you mentioned wisdom, thats my own input from the implications of your comment, I am allowed my own input right? But as you say some people can go to Thailand a few times and get whats going on, others can go 1,000's times and still not be able to give good advice.

So age, number of visits or time on the forum or number of posts are all irrelevant when it comes to having a valid opinion. But some people like to have a rank or pecking order based on something like this. But in the end we are all just individuals, we can listen, learn, analysis and decide what comments we agree with or don't.

I take all comments at face value and go from there. The true Thailand experience for So-cal might not be the true one for the next man. He can offer insight into what it is he likes or dislikes etc. But ultimately he can only present his veiws from his own prospective, the rest of us can just take them or leave them.

Just the way I see things.

Fairly basic thing not to know, Mr I'm Always Right.

Farang, used by Thais to describe white caucasion peoples, was originally for White europeans, not denoting if they were from the south or north of europe. Now it is loosely used for any white caucasion peoples, so will include australian, american etc. Not used when describing black, asian or arabic races.
