Most of the farangs that come to Pataya are good hearted,but they are often very stupid over the bar girls.When the American servicemen came,and even the very first German tourists,the girls used to treat them like Thai men and take care of them very well.But over the course of time,the farang men have acted so foolishly that our girls have now realised that they are completely different from Thai men,and that they will stil give them plenty of Money and gifts even if they behave badly.Those first lucky farangs who came to Pataya and paid girls to stay with them were treated to companions who pampered them properly as they would a Thai man,and who would never argue or speak badly to their “boyfriends”. Even the tourists who only took the girls for a night or two would be massaged and would have their finger and toe nails cut; and their bodies would be washed from head to toe before being pleased with the best sex that a girl could offer.This was the Thai way then. Now, every ban nok village (up country) in Thailand has girls who have worked in Pataya and the softness-if not the stupidity-of most farang men is almost legendary,so much so that now even new girls from up-country know that they do not need to try too hard to relieve a tourist of his Money.
Ofcourse,there are still some good girls around Pataya but they are very few and far between now.And the poor farangs continue to fall in love and end up broken hearted when the girls get bored and romance is over.Many farangs come to Thailand with the idea of saving a poor but beautiful Thai girl who will surely love him forever for rescuing her from a life of poverty. These men very often end up hopeless drunks who sit around in miserable groups bemoaning the stupidity of the Thai girls who it seems,did not want to be saved at all and who have no concept of the benefits of a comfortable and secure life with a partner that they cannot even communicate with.Now and again i see a marriage or a relationship that seems to be working,but no matter howlong a couple stay together there is always the danger that one day the girl will decide that she want to be a Thai again.

Some are still like that. I met one 2 years ago. Married her. Never thought I'd meet another who pampered me like she does.. but i did.... just 2 weeks ago in patong on my lastest ever monger tour (honest) :-

Nose picked... on the beach
eybrows preened.....
ears cleaned ( and they needed it ! )...
shaved face whilst lying on my back with my head on her lap....
lost of post xxx massages....
finger and toe nails clipped...
head shaved ...
armpits ... shaved and plucked ..... well how could i resist

... and a total 10 days and nights of good company, best 'honeymoon' experience ever. I'll leave that to ur imagination.

IMO, history repeats itself in cycles, with the necessary "global" change of advanced thinking/behavior. Time is not standing still - no where. People adapt.

You can always learn some Thai, there are books available, otherwise, just ask JB or Mai Chob for advise

I think there are some great girls out there. I met one on my May tour and when I came in July I was privilaged to be with her. She treated me very very well....

This last bit made me read tho.... What about the relationships that do work... It's the same in every culture, race, nationality. There is usually more to a relationship not working out than what you are saying.

I've read Astor77's post and to be honest i think he has some very valid points.. i can be as argumentative as the next guy but i cant pick any bones out of this one....

I think mentioning his age is a poor question for debate, his 10 years experience is more than enough to notice changes (for the worst)

I'm 37 but it doesn't matter, the point is i've been coming to Phuket for 5 years now and remember the days when you walked in a bar the lady would greet you with a wai, find you a seat and wipe your face with a cold towel and keep you company to which you would be happy to offer her a drink....
Nowadays, rarely you get a wai, the occasional cold towel to do yourself and within 3 minutes of walking in "YOU BUY ME DRINK".... he's right, its changed for the worse... i'm here for the golf and the weather so it wont ruin my enjoyment

It was a question about the age and experience which has been answered in a later post (10 years was a unknown in the OP)

Don't know about Phuket, but whenever I go to LOS there seems to be an endless wave of wai's.

btw..the cold towel only makes things worse, better get some white powder for a change :-)

I have to admitt i have also seen a change towards the tourists.
but to be honest most of them (the tourists that is)ask for every thin they get .
The are still plenty of good girls out there you just have to know the rules of the game.
as for relationship break downs well thats part of life ,the plenty of us here that have failed relationships with farang ladies and i am no exception .
but i have found that i get back as much as i put in with a relationship with a Thai lady.
Alas Thai /farang relationships only seem to get the worst side reported when its gone wrong and or the seemingly deceptive Thai lady(in the eyes of the other party)has took them to the cleaners.
but remember divorce in the UK the fella may as well just sign his lifes belongings straight over to the woman.

Maybe not, but regardless, I think he makes a lot of good points. The stories of the LOS that the servicemen found back in the 70's are legendary. It's nothing like that now.

Only 4 years ago, I had two different girls, who would wash me, then get down on their knees and dry me with the towel from head to toe, then powder me from my feet up, also. Let me tell you, you can have the girls who tell you to f*ck off, because that kind of treatment was simply wonderful. The one I spent several weeks with would hand me my razor, put the toothpaste on my toothbrush, cook my meals, run to the store for beer, and generally treated me like a king. She would also run the bath water for me in the tub and get it just the temperature I liked it, then we would get in the tub and wash each other, and you can just imagine what other things we did when we got all soapy and slippery in the tub. Playing with her in the tub is one of the truly great memories for me!!

Later, I found out she was just a player, and had a Thai BF. But I still appreciated the effort she made!

She was 34 yrs old, and the other one about the same age, and they would be 38 now. I have never been treated that way by any girl since then. I think to find a younger lady, who would treat you that way, would be extremely rare.

I look in the mirror every morning. No illusions there. But I still really appreciate it when a girl gives me the "fit for a king" treatment!
