December 23 Alcohol Sales
As the Election date has been set for Sunday 23 December will we have the usual 24+ hours of no alcohol sales.i.e. 6pm on Saturday 22nd until at least 6pm on Sunday 23rd? I am arriving from Pattaya on 23rd(spooky eh?) and was wondering if there is any point going out early if at all on the Sunday evening.

It's midnight on the 22nd/23rd until ~10PM on the 23rd - although as this is a major election it will be up to local police to decide when they will allow alcohol sales.

Note - this is ALL alcohol sales - shops as well - so bring your duty free or stock up day before as as ever always will be somewhere where you can get a drink - especially Pattaya!

there has not been one day when there were alcohol bans that i was not able to find a store to buy beers at or a bar to drink

Stock up and make a few BG friends quickly. Get round one of their parties that night- everyone gets more mong'd when the bars are closed than on a regular night in my experience. Roll on Xmas Eve Eve.

Then stock up for the re-run of the election, the re-re-run of the election, the not enough voted election...............................

All bars between Rat-u-tit road and the beach will stay open. The new Police-boss in Phuket dont want the tourists to be affected by elections, so we dont need to worry about our christmas-party
BTW, all bars in Patong can also stay open until 4 (not like Bangkok or most of Patts)

Dont know about Patts, but its for sure beautiful girls around here too. Of cause the pretty ones get barfined first

On a serious note (Yes- Simbo said that!!) it makes no sense for the bars to be shut. The whole reason behind an alcohol ban on the day is to get registered voters to vote. As most of the Thai working population downtown is not from Phuket they are ineligible to vote as are the Falangs, obviously. Closing the bars here makes no sense as everyone can purchase alcohol anyway if they ask around. Common sense has prevailed for a change. However he made his last decision based on the fact it was a referendum, not an erection- watch this space.

Pure bullshit. Ofcourse we have a lot of beautiful girls in Phuket. I see them everywhere.

I dont mind if you love pattaya but claiming we dont have any beautiful girls in Phuket is just BS.
